Well, I know this has been said time and time again, "this expansion has made Druid ports useless . . ." Well, at least in the previous expansions we could still port to hard to reach places like Cobalt Scar. But now with this new expansion any non-porting class can get to the Twilight Sea, Barindu, Wall of Slaughter, Cobalt Scar, etc. just by buying a gem from Zeflmin Werlikanin in their guild hall.

This isn't a problem. I like everyone having the ability to move quickly around on their own.

Now one guild member can set the guild portal to a specific destination and it stays targeted. That way the whole guild can use the portal to get to a specific location when a raid is called.

That doesn't make druid or wizard ports useless, it means we don't have to do a lot of mundane porting when there is a real alternative.

Doesn't bother me at all. Anything that cuts down on the "port me" tells I get while trying to get things done makes me happy.

Did you see the price of the WoS gem?

As both a wizard and a druid, I hate porting. I'm fine with folks getting around on their own.

And there are always the lazy ones....wiz got a tell one night:

/random stranger: "hey I'll donate 200 pp for a port, I'm in NRo, come to me and port me to PoK"

/me: just logged. So tired of it.

I have to agree I don't mind other's being able to get around, I was logged on for a total of 15 mins the other night and had 3 requests for ports gah
I don't care to be a taxi

just a guess, but i assume Truid is a person who would rather port around people for money than play / enjoy the game. I am the oppisate. When i play in a zone thats far away from a PoK book/magus etc its more convenient for me, and the group, if i dont have to port out to pick someone up each time we replace someone etc.

This is great news to me. Now I don't have to log in to port my husband to WoS or Natimbi anymore. Who ports for plat anymore anyway?

This is the best part of the expansion. Im done having to gate lazy guildies to wos for raids in anguish, etc. Kinda wish there was a stone for natimbi though.

One portal stone gives the whole guild a ride to the same location, no more porting, soe and invising everyone, then shuffling groups and porting back to get a new load. What a pain that was.

And the price is high enough that really, if someone needs a port just for one I am sure they will still send me a tell. I never took donations anyhow. I am allergic.

The port you pick will stay active unless someone else changes it.

So if the guild needs to go to WoS to get to a raid, you can just buy a port stone to WoS with guild bank money, activate the portal, and 60 people can go through the portal until someone changes it or the guild hall instance closes.

That's going to be a nice feature.

I agree the feature is very useful, but the choice of locations could be improved. It should have Natimbi and Bloodfields, and there is no reason to include silly ports like Twilight Sea, which no one has ever used anyway.

Well I assume Twilight Sea is for guilds that still raid Ssra :o

And here I just got through reading a thread about how the people still playing EQ liked it because it was "hard" and inconvenient... you know, porting up the dimensional hill both ways, and all that... 8P

I agree Bloodfields and Natimbi would be very nice additions, even though you can Magus your way to Natimbi fairly quickly.

I do! LOL gives me something to do while im LFG and its decent coin - can make about 1k in a few hours most nights. I was very happy to be needed to port my guild around for raids - made me feel useful and special cause I was usually the ONLY porter. I never minded making 4 trips to pok to pick up guildies and invis them to get safely where we needed to be. Not saying its a bad thing to have the guild ports - just saying I never minded doing it.

Then you would be assuming wrong! My point was that being able to port to "hard to reach places" was IMHO one of our class defining abilities and now anyone can do it (at least anyone in a guild that is).

I can't say it's ever bothered me to be asked by people for ports, and I've never asked for money. If a person offers then why shouldn't I accept? Is it any different than when a person offers to donate for cleric or enchanter buffs?

I've gladly donated to clerics and enchanters for their class defining abilities when the need was there. If a person offers 100pp for a port to WL am I supposed to ignore him or offer my services for free just because you think it's an inconvenience? I've played this game several different ways, grouping, soloing, buying and selling in the bazaar for a profit and yes even porting for plat when I didn't have any (before PoP was released). So who are you to tell me how to enjoy the game? :moon:

Since this expansion has come out I am not seeing any lessening of annoying requests for ports. You must remember that the teleporter in the guild hall is used for raiding mostly. There will always be those too lazy to actually run to places and they will always be bugging us for ports.

I really don't foresee the guild port as being a detriment to those who port folks for plat. For our guild, it's set to a specific destination (yes indeed-for raiding purposes) and guildees are NOT to change it. It costs plat to set and reset. If someone changes the destination, then you have to pay to reset it. Then someone else comes along and wants to change it so they can get to X zone. Now the guild has to change it back AGAIN. No-that's not feasible.

And I am GLAD for this. It's a PITA to be trying to buff up for a raid and having to go play taxi repeatedly for latecomers.

If you're late to a raid and I'm already there and you want a ride from pok, screw you, should've logged on 15-30 minutes ago.

Anything that helps reduce tells asking for ports IS A GOOD THING, at least to me. As for porting being a good earner, BAH!

After we became obsolete porters for the most part when PoK came around, i have gotten use to not porting, and i dont really mind now.

300pp once for a Skyfire port...sad since it's a short run from PoK and the wizard port-in isn't necessarily safer.

Good thing I channeled off a gate with 3 'dracs on me. HATE THOSE THINGS!

I've made a ton from porting people out of the bazaar who were stuck in the old geometry over the last couple of days.

Even though I was offering to do it for free these people seemed so relieved they were forcing me to take 200p+ donations!

I agree too, but apparently the guild leader who wants that person and sends me to get them doesn't, lol. Its nice being the only dr00d in the guild, but sometimes it has drawbacks.

Love the guild hall transporter, fports... now I respond, "guild hall is up" heh

... and on a different, but sorta related note... my guild has no raiding wizzies... wish my ports were MGB'able - hahaha
