I didn't get to catch it in the theaters. Just got to see it on DVD. It was pretty fun to see it as a movie. They were able to do alot with the story.

Have seen PotO a couple of times for real and watched the movie this weekend.

Movie was good, it flushed out some details of the storyline/plot for me.

The actor who played the Phantom, his singing did not do anything for me though for some reason. One of the two major singing roles and I think they could have done better.

Observation and maybe this is a known plot-line, say so if it is, but I got the strong impression that there had been a relationship in the past between the Phantom and Madame Giry (The Frau Blucher character of the movie) and the result was Christina's friend, Meg Giry.

Bingo! Atleast I'm not alone. The voice modulator was worked overtime just to make his singing palatable. I don't see how you can cast an actor who has no training in singing in the title role of a musical. I don't care if he is going to be the next James Bond. The Phantom Deserved better then that.

I didn't get that impression. I didn't care for the added back story of how the Phantom got to the Opera Popular. I think they took alot of the mystery out of the Phantom character. I think one of the things that made the Phantom exciting was his super natural qualities. They went out of the way in the movie to make him look like a normal man.
