A check of Filmratings.com, the website of the MPAA's Classification And Ratings Administration, reveals that the upcoming fourth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, has been given a PG-13 rating for "sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images." This will be the first of the Harry Potter films to not have the family-friendly PG rating.

Very interesting...

As far as the books go, they do get more and more mature in content. PG-13 is probably given for the intensity of the final part of the 4th book.

Nod. There's a lot more violence in GoF than in the previous stories. In the book, people die and people get tortured and people are used as human bait. It is a fairly dark book, at least at the end.

Of course, who knows how much of that they'll have in the movie. They'll have to have the one main death, or the story won't make sense. But the rest of the really awful stuff they could probably leave out.

I'm looking forward to seeing the special effects for the dragon scene. (For anyone who knows HP well, am I the only one who ever wondered why if Harry could "accio broom", he didn't just "accio egg"?)

I'm looking forward to this movie a lot. I think there's something oddly satisfying about reading a series that "matures" as the time goes on. It gives it a sense of reality. I like it!

I'll bet the eggs were enchanted so that couldn't be done... but I agree, that would've been the smart thing to do!

And how could HP, when running for the port key, run faster than he ever did, when he could hardly stand on it both before that and after when back in the maze?

Anyway we can get spoiler tags talking about portions of the book or movie for those of us that haven't read it yet?

Anywho, Yeah the books are supposed to mature with time. My ex was a fanatic and I'll admit, from what I read I loved 'em. I really need more reading time lol.

:EDIT RAHJEIR
We have them already.

I just read Star War: The Empire Strikes Back.
Wanna know something, Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's dad. Can you believe that?

I am kind of upset over the PG-13 rating myself. I have an 8 year old who is going through the books pretty fast (read 2+ of the books since school started) and is dying to see the movie, but the rating is kind of annoying.

They are already pre-selling tickets here for the first weeks worth of showings. Going to try and get ours this weekend. If nothing else, I can get him to the movie as a birthday treat for him.

Are you some sort of weird sci-fi/fantasy/cult spelling ogre now, Aidon? =/

Hmmm.

Think I could make a career out of it?
