Ok, this is a bizarre tale. Sounds like Lost!

It's an island where a bizarre pit that appears to be a trap was found. Millions have been spent and lives lost...

The Pit was discovered in 1795 by a local boy named Daniel McGinnis who, spotting an unusual clearing in the earth under one of the island's oak trees, was prompted to start digging. The discovery of layered planks, mysterious stone slabs, and mats made of coconut fibers descending deep into the ground turned his casual afternoon dig into an all-out excavation.

Aye... Oak Island. I've been there. The tale of pirate treasure intrigued me as a child. I've read a number of books about it. The island has become a tourist attraction.

There are all sorts of theories regarding the treasure that's supposed to be at the bottom of the Treasure Pit. Some say it's the pirate Bluebeard's hoard. Last I heard the latest private venture to unearth the secrets went bankrupt.

I recommend reading some books on it. Unlike most mysteries, there are actually a number of intriguing physical facts associated with the Money Pit.

Yeah! Can you recommend any books? I hope as they excavate it they take good notes.

Yes. Please recommend some reading materials. I've never heard of this before but it seems very interesting. Some facts not listed that I'd be interested in knowing. The big question I have is how deep and wide is this hole? Any material suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Two books that I read and liked are;

Oak Island Gold by William S. Crooker

This book was written in 1993. I'm not sure if it's available in the United States.

Oak Island and its Lost Treasure by Graham Harris and Le MacPhie

This was published in 1999 and first published in the U.S. in 2000. It's distributed in the U.S. by Seven Hills Books Distribution, Cincinnati Ohio.

I saw a few books mentioned on (and I'm surprised Panamah didn't check this) Wikipedia.

I saw a bunch on Amazon. Yeah, I was going to look on Wikipedia but then I thought it would ruin the books for me.

I saw a documentary about this on Discovery years ago - it has always intrigued me and I wondered if anyone had ever made it to the bottom yet :)
