These zones give an experience bonus. They will not go live until the patch on February 21.

*** New Hot Zones ***

- The time has come to once again update the "Hot Zones" throughout Norrath. The previous zones have been reverted to their former states and the following zones are now a great place to go for experience and fun:

Level 20: Najena
Level 25: Iceclad Ocean
Level 30: Rathe Mountains
Level 35: Frontier Mountains
Level 40: Gulf of Gunthak
Level 45: Velketor's Labrynth
Level 50: Fungus Grove
Level 55: Old Sebilis
Level 60: Cazic Thule

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how the experience bonus works in these "hot zones"? Are they level based? For example, if you took a level 45 Mage to Fungus Grove, would he get the same experience bonus as a level 50 in that same zone?

Afaik yes, this bonus apply as multiplier to ervery mob.
The lvl's given there are sugestions to spread players to more than one zone and to make sure the killspeed is ok also.
Luclin mobs at the same lvl as velious mobs have a lot more HP, so the killspeed will drop. Unless you are heavily twinked, you will have problems to have the damage output per hour of a lvl 50 toon as a lvl 45.

Yes, these are still current. They tend to change the hot zones very rarely now.
