Havent tried to log in yet today, I logged in shortly after the servers came up yesterday, found out that the /claim function wasnt working, then the world crashed. I was able to stay in the general chat for about 20 minutes before EQ totally crashed and figured I would wait until today to see if they got the bugs worked out. Sounds like they are still working on issues - heh.

Lol!

Bertox has been down for 12 hours with the only thing from Sony being:

http://eqforums.station.sony.com/eq/board/message?board.id=Crier&message.id=289

To address issues with the guild banks, all guild halls will be taken down and unavailable while this is being fixed. We assure you, all guild bank items will be restored.

We will most likely be updating again around 3am PST on Wednesday morning. If we get the issues resolved esrlier then that, we will update as soon as possible.

Server stability issues are being investigated.

/claim should now be working to claim your warhorse if you purchased the retail box version of Prophecy of Ro.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience!

Server stability isues were related to the guild hall issues. This should be rectified shortly for all servers that have been crashing.

"COMMUNICATE WITH OUR PLAYERS? ARE YOU INSANE?" - Sony Bosses

Sony doesn't believe in talking to us. Don't you know that by now?

Sorry about the lack of information. We have had our nose to the grindstone tracking down these problems. The update this morning is nearly complete but we are going to have to take some measures to keep the Guild Hall zone from being able to be launched. We are still investigating an issue with the wiping of Guild Banks and don't want to make the problem any worse by allowing people access to that zone. When we have that in place we will be bringing the servers up.

Thanks Fenier.

You know what bothers me?

I don't expect the developers to talk to us while they are trying to fix problems. But they should have and allegedly do have, someone who's only job is to communicate with us.

That person should be talking with the developers and giving us updates and telling us what is going on.

When I start up EQ, there is a spot for their patch messages. When I start it up now, it is blank, because I've already viewed the message of Feb 21. Why isn't there a message now saying:

"The game is currently down for a patch. We estimate that it will be back up at xxxx PST. However, due to the problems we have been having, we can not guarantee this. We will update this patch message every hour as well as have it tell you as soon as the game is up. You can also see this message and more information at http://station.sony.com/everquest/wtfisgoingonwitheq"

Sony and EQ, clueless together since 1999. "We never listen to the players, they don't know anything."

Ragnhell has this to say in response to that:

I do appreciate some of you folks defending the devs but I have to agree that we should have been communicating more during the last 12 hours. As for being logged out in the Guild Hall the Go Home button on Character Select is always a good option. I will get that added to the update message.

Ragnhell has this to say in response to that:
I've read what you just posted.

I appreciate what he is trying to do.

But what we have here is a total failure of outlook.

This reminds me of the statements we have seen from politicians lately. (Don't want to get into an argument about politics, but...)

This isn't a minor, "oops, sorry, we should have told you more."

This is a total lack of any understanding AT ALL of the concept of communicating with your players.

I've posted before about how EQ makes it so easy to communicate with your players, if only Sony would use the tools that are right there in front of them.

You want me to link to my post about how easy it would be for Sony to keep us in the loop?

But I'm beating a dead horse :deadhorse because Sony doesn't see that there is a problem.

Whatever, there is no REAL interest at Sony with communicating with us. I bet they will try in the future to give us updates, maybe once every five hours instead of the current once every 12. But that isn't the problem. This is a major failure to see the REAL problem. :banghead:

I mean I posted about just one example of this problem:
http://eq.forums.thedruidsgrove.org/showthread.php?t=13345

And that is just one aspect of the problem. There is much, much more they should be doing.

This would require a paradigm shift at Sony. The idea of being as totally open to your players as possible (within the limits of trade secrets, etc.) is something they just don't understand.

Geez, I've stated again and again and again these things. I would be willing to help them, even (shudder) for no pay.

I'm sure members of The Druids Grove are tired of hearing from me.
