Did anyone see Jim Hansen from NASA on 60 minutes and how he was complaining that a White House lawyer, an appointee who was a former lobbyist from an energy company, was editing his finding that he was trying to publish?

He's very concerned that we're going to reach a tipping point in the next 10 years where global warming will have gone too far to be reversed. But this white house appointee, Phil Dooley, kept revising his reports and censoring him from speaking out. Phil Dooley has since resigned and gone to work for Exxon corp.

Good segment:

Wow... was that repayment for a good "editing" job? :)

You should have seen what the EPA wrote initially in their annual state of the environment dealie, and what the white house revised edition looked like.

You know that fake "bill of rights" thing you posted? That's pretty much what the section on air quality looked like. All black marks. What was left was about 5 sentences, which could have boiled down to "We have air."

Bush has been watering down every statement on global warming everywhere he goes. The US government is still the most recalcitrant body in the world, even ignoring the advice of NASA on this issue. Perhaps he'll change his mind once US companies can sell global warming solutions to the rest of the world.
