Please don't take this as a rant, it isn't. I am not complaining about the druid class, I am only pointing out and repeating weaknesses that others have posted before. I'm just placing my thoughts on how the druid class may be improved. It's just my opinion based on logical thinking and experience. So please don't flame me and please don't turn this into another cleric/druid/wizard/necro/etc bashing thread. I do not care about what new spells druids, or other classes, are getting in the PoP expansion. Nor do I want this to become another comlaint thread of how the druids are getting gimped. I only care talking about how the druid class can be "balanced" in the game as it is now.
Now on with my opinion.
Nearly each and every class has a specilization associated with that class.
Wizards = Nukes
Clerics = Heals/HP & AC Buffs/rezz
Magicians = Pets/dmg shields/Nukes(2nd to wizards)
Enchanters = Mez/Clarity/Haste/aggro control spells (whenever they go live)
Shamans = Focus/Haste/Strength and nearly everything a druid can do except gate.
Warriors = Meatshields/dmg output
Necros = Dots/Fear/Twitch
Rangers = Archery skill (seen some very nice dmg output close to wizzy nukes)
Paladins = Meatshields/dmg output/rezz
Shadowknights = Meatshields/Pullers/FD/basic aggro control spells(whenever they go live)
Monks = Pullers/FD/serious melee dmg output
Beastlords = Decent melee dmg output/viable pet class
Bards = No specilization. A hybrid of all classes into one. All songs are temporary effects (usually 18 seconds) but some happen to be the most powerful/useful in the game. Only class that can push melee's beyond the haste cap. Most songs are manaless and stack with nearly every other class buff.
Druids = No specialization. We can, at best, be compared to a bard. Like a bard we have no specilization in spells that sets us apart from other classes, but rather we can do a little of every casting class.
This makes druids a great soloing class as well as a buffer/healer for a small group in KC or similar zone. This does not, however, make us a viable member in high end raid situations when competing with other classes for slots in a limited number raid. Yes we have Evac, but if the raid is strong enough and lead properly then Evac won't be needed.
So if Verant was to give us a specilization such as nukes, rez, CH, haste, etc if could make the respective classes non-desirable in favor for the druid class.
The other option would be for Verant to create a type of specilization that would be highly welcomed in a high end group situation but limited to the druid class while letting other classes having a little of the new druid specialization.
As of yet, I can not think of a specilization that could be unique to druids or one that would not infringe upon the specialization of another class. So any ideas here would be welcome. New ideas for spells, which don't compete heavily with other classes and wouldn't be unreasonable for VI to implement would be great way to start.
