Think it's real? Or just someone who wants attention?
I think the latter, personally.

The guy they have in custody certainly exudes a creepy vibe. They have a picture of him on MSNBC (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14379566/).

Confessing to murder just to get attention is pretty damn stupid. Then again, openly confessing to murder when there's no evidence against you and when you've gotten away with it for 10 years is also stupid, so who knows.

JonBenet was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder, Colo., on Dec. 26, 1996.
That doesn't sound accidental.

But.... gotta say, this sounds bogus to me. Either that or else the police really botched it.

Apparently he has information about the crime that was never released to the public that only investigators knew. I am curious to see how this whole thing unfolds.

Heard today that they had been investigating him since before her mom died earlier this year? So they had been building a case maybe?

I hope hes the guy so he can be put to jail so I never have to hear of this case again.

I think it's more than a random nutcase confessing to a murder he didn't commit. He was under investigation for some time.

If he is found guilty, how many people will be remorseful of the hell Jon Benet's parents went through with all the accusations, innuendos and suspicions paraded for everyone to see in the national and international media?

I seem to recall hearing about blood at the crime scene not matching either parent. If that blood was DNA tested, the guilt or innocence of the accused murderer would be obvious.

Why is he claiming he picked her up at school? School was out for christmas holidays. (Source was Power97.com)

Wack job either way.

I might confess to the JFK assassination if it was going to get me extradited to the US rather then go to prison in Thailand....

I was thinking the same thing.

He had been on the list of suspects since the very beginning. There was also the information he knew about the killing that no one else theoretically knew, and the fact that he kept calling 'friends' in the Denver PD to check to see how the case was progressing. Not to mention that he was already being held on "unrelated child sex charges". Doesn't look too good from where I sit.

I am skeptical...

He says he picked her up from school... School was on holiday.
He says he drugged her...
He says he "accidently" killed her...

Ramsey's body was found in the basement of her family's Colorado home on December 26, 1996. Autopsy results showed she received a massive blow to the head and was strangled with a rope that the killer tightened by twisting an attached paintbrush handle. An autopsy did not detect any drugs in her system.

Ok, glad I'm not alone in my suspicion: Experts doubt confession (http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-jonexpert18.html)

The accused killer's DNA is currently being tested. I think this is the key point.

I wish folks would get their information correct about 'the victim was picked up at school and drugged'. From everything I've read, the accused killer didn't say that. Suwat, the Thai police officer didn't say that the accused killer had said that. Suwat was referring to some documentary he had seen that included comments about JonBenet Ramsey being picked up from school and drugged... and we all know how accurate media reports are, don't we??

The usual -- blonde-haired, blue-eyed white girl. In this particular case, the interest is piqued by her pageant background and the fact that there have been so many viable suspects. It's the perfect storm for news outlets who know that viewers/readers will suck up every bit of speculative punditry thrown their way. :)

It has just been a huge mystery for a long time. People like to speculate and gossip.

I'm convinced he's a random nutter.

And the world gives a **** why?I'm only curious because I still believe the parents went nuts and killed her. (edit - I think Dad did it.)

This guy should be locked up just for looking like one sick bastard.

That is all.

I heard a rehash of how the parents acted right after the murder. They hired some crack defense attorneys, refused to take lie detector tests, did a bunch of weird things.

I think it is in some part because the world beleived the parents did it and they don't want that illusion shattered. I am glad we have a justice system for that reason. Even Bill Kurtis called it the perfect crime.

He is the host of A&E's Cold Case Files and American Justice. The reason I invoke his name is because the very day before this guy came forward, I was reading Mr. Kurtis' interview in Discover.

Well, as news stories go, it's much more interesting than how many more people have died in Iraq, and how Iran is planning on moving forward with their nukes program even if the US says they're going to invade.

Too bad no one ever really talks about Afghanistan anymore. Or the fact that we still haven't caught bin Laden.

But I guess a 10 year old murder mystery is better than water skiing budgies or a dog that can walk only on its front legs or something.

The middle east is actually really interesting. Its interesting in how everyone is manipulating someone else to act in ways not in their best interests. There truly are puppet-masters at work here.

Hell, I don't fault them for that.

If I had a kid and he or she wound up dead...the first thing I'd do is hire an attorney, also. Family is always the first suspect and if you're grieving for a child you're in no state to try and tangle with police who are trying their damndest to find a reason to arrest you.

I don't blame them for the lie detectors either. They aren't accurate and a skilled operator/interrogator can get them to reflect what they want.

Looks like the cops don't think Karr did it either:
