I've thrown a few deals on the OT board before and some people have gotten some use out of it, so I figured I'd try one more.

This "Deal" is not 100% confirmed, I haven't gotten mine shipped yet, but it's the closest thing I've found to a TMX Elmo in stock and not for $100. I figure if I get it, cool, if not, well I tried.

First, click here:
http://www.fabu.com/store/toysrus
Select "Launch Coupon" and it should redirect you to the TRU website with a 10% off coupon ready to go.

Then click here:
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2373327&siteID=lw9MynSeamY-syZ3ZFMUovV4ACy_717awQ
Yes, I know it's the Spanish version, but look down the right-hand side and you'll see "Related Items" - English TMX is the last one, click the checkbox and hit "Add to Cart"

You should now have TMX English Elmo in your cart, with 10% off even.

If you use Google Checkout, you'll get another $10 off the top. There was no tax for me, and shipping was ~$11 for 2-day and ~$5 for Ground, making my total around ~$32 (Ground) to ~$40 (2-Day).

<b>***Disclaimer***</b>
Like I stated above, I <b>have not</b> gotten the item delivered to me yet, so there is a chance that this will not get shipped. So if you're a rabid parent who's hunting for Elmo, I suggest that you give this deal a try, but not give up on finding a 100% sure thing until you've got this deal in your hands.

Hope this is useful to someone else.

Part two if you didn't get in via Toys R Us:
http://money.cnn.com/2006/12/12/news/companies/walmart_moreelmo/index.htm?postversion=2006121208

Walmart.com apparently will have 4000 Elmos per day until the 15th, the website will get updated every day at noon.

One year, 1999 I think, I got our girls 3 Furbies and 1 Gizmo Furbie.

A month later they became disinterested in the toys.

One day I was sitting in my cubical, probably on The Druids Grove instead of actually working, and one of the IT techs came in.

And we started talking about the blue off site storage boxes that took our tape back ups, well off site.

And we joked about how it would be cool, to put something unusual in one, and see if anyone noticed.

And I said, we should put a talking moving Furbie in one, and see what happens.

And we did, and we laughed. And the Furbie came back a month later, still intact, moving and talking its gibberish Furbie speak. Never heard anything from the off site storage dude who did the pickups, but we still had a good one about it.

The first time I heard about Furby's was when one of the guy's at Microsoft started looking for one for his kid, apparently they asked for one for that Christmas. We started looking for them during lunches, but we had zero clue about what the hell it was, or what the hell it looked like. We just blindly went into stores asking for it - and promptly got laughed at.

Strangely enough, it was once again WalMart.com where we found a in-stock Furby - this was quite a few years ago, so the internet deal sites weren't quite as "rabid" as they are now, so items could stay in stock for days, not the hours like now. My friend got two Furby's for his kids and I got one just for curiosity (I wanted to see what the hell this thing was all about).

My Furby lived in my cube for about a week - everyone got to stop by, poke the thing and (try to) figure out what the hell was so cool about this toy. Many people saw the toy that their kids were drooling over for the first time. And yes, after about a week of weird Furby-babble, I quickly gave it to a friend of mine who's kid did not mind an early, albeit "used", Furby Christmas gift.

Have you seen the <a href="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2029457706320871566&q=tmx+elmo">video</a> of the TMX Elmo going off, Fyyr? It's actually kinda scary - like Elmo on crystal meth.

I have seen the video, it's kinda creepy if you ask me.

I thought when you first posted it, that it was some kind of joke really. Some home produced absurdity, to get some airplay on uTube.

No, I was wrong.

That is what that toy does.

Which is exactly why I told my little story. Probably half hoping, that for whomever you are looking for this crass commercial materialistic grotesque, that when the novelty wears off for her or him....that you might shove it into some blue box(or whatever) at Morgan Stanley, and see what hilarity ensues.

For that is the only value that I would be able to glean from this thing.

Nah, I'm trying to locate one to send to my cousin in Japan, she loves Elmo (she's in college now, so no, not as a kiddy toy, just likes the character).

Besides, I figure this would be a great toy to scare the crap out of their cats.

I'm in dire need of a cat scarer. This should do the trick - just need to replace the touch switch with a prox sensor...
