Make all priests heal the same.

Then have them do their own unique things.
There is an oversimplification below:

Clerics:
Stun, Plate
Nuke-stun (improved)
Undead (undead DOT)
(Would need more stuff.)
Ex. non-aggro undead "turn"(fear),
Snare/DS or slow/quick ( I would take slow ;) ).

Druids:
Snare, Sow, DS
Fire & Cold DD, DOT
Animal
(May lose stuff)

Shamen
Slow, Quick, Pet
Pois DD, DOT
Canni, Malo
(May lose stuff)

I KNOW this will never happen. It aint fair and all that. It is MY belief that priests should be interchangable though. Like the D&D way of doing things.

This would be a great UN-fair solution in EQ1.
Perhaps in EQ2 it will be like this.

Why should they be interchangeable?

I enjoy playing different classes because they are different, and the differences make things more interesting as much as they can be a hindrance somtimes. I'd like clerics to be more versatile and not stuffed into such a specific role, but not at the expense of my shaman or my druid. I want druids to get caught up in the endgame, but not at the expense of clerics. In other words, I don't want druids to be SO interchangeable with clerics that we would end up replacing them on raids. No, that'd be too easy.

In my opinion due to the fact that a specialist healer is hyper critical.

For some time I hoped for balance but now I'm resigned to the fact that some things are broken and won't be fixed.
The best way of avoiding backing the wrong horse is to diversify.

My Cleric would like invis, see invis, EB, Lev, Harmony, Snare etc but its not going to happen. To alleviate this lack of utility I have 2 mid-level Druids and a high-level Ranger.

Want better heals ? start a Cleric but be prepared to pay the price.

" Want better heals ? start a Cleric but be prepared to pay the price."

That is tired old rhetoric. Druids don't need to have all of a cleric's healing ability, but druids do need to be brought up to date.

Clerics have the advantage of a direct heal that scales up. Mobs generally do more damage now, and the average tank has more hit points to deal with that damage, yet a cleric can use the same 400 mana spell to bring that tank up to full health.

Druids do not have a heal that scales up, so every increase of mob attack power puts the druid further behind.

It is significant to note that this has been happening since Kunark -- where our only direct healing upgrade (at 60th level) is not more mana efficient than our previous heals. Yet mobs introduced after Kunark have risen greatly, in their ability to deal damage as well as in their number of hit points, magic resistance, armor class, immunities (e.g. to snare/root), and spell capabilities.
