Looks like the pit controversy is being stirred up again, this time in New York City. There's a proposal being put forth by City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. to ban all breeding and sales of the breed within NYC - current owners can still keep their dogs.

Pits are the #3 most registered dog in the City.

Just in time for http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/6222319.stm.

Slow news day. Dangerous dogs day.

How about banning stupid keepers, the real source of the trouble?

Not to mention, a citywide ban will mean very little if you can just go outside the city to get one.Just in time for http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/m...de/6222319.stmLet's see. The uncle knew the dog was violent but left a five-year-old with the dog. It would have been more effective to "humanely destroy" the uncle, for stupidity.
