View Full Forums : Sitting on Wuoshi's lap? CoV faction and ports to WL
04-26-2003, 06:04 AM
I've been trying to find some information on this for ages and until now I have gotten many different answers...
I worked hard to get my CoV faction to indifferent but yet I've been told that indifferent is not enough to safely port to WL. Other people say indifferent is just fine...I want to port to WL to get yew leaves to trade skill but I have no desire of not being able to get my stuff back because a little dragon decided to sit on my corpse after playing football with.
What was your CoV faction when either your saw the dragon it liked you or it didn't like you?

Indifferent is more than fine, provided no wolf form.
Dubious is safe. I was dub for a very long time, and had no probs.
You won't be able to do the SS quests until you are high ally, though.
If you want to try it out beforehand, just to make sure, go to CS and just check with a wyvern.

Thanks for the input! I checked with wyverns in CS and I am indifferent but I really had some people telling me that indifferent was not enough to be not KOS to Wuoshi....

I was dubious and never had any trouble porting into WL. But remember, if you are with someone who is threatening or lower, and Wuoshi attacks, you may be caught in a breath attack (not sure how often he casts it though). So it's not good to hang around there :)
Plus, if you are in range and attack someone who is ally with CoV Wuoshi will attack you. I accidentally cast snare on my monk after porting into the ring. The monk was ally with CoV and Wuoshi didn't like me attacking her - I died quick :)

No creature in EQ attacks at indiff, unless you attack first. Even dubious creatures will not attack. But any mob will "assist" a friend.
As above the problem with Wuoshi is if you port someone who is threatning or KoS Wuoshi will attack them, if he uses an AE attack (breath weapon) you'll be caught in the blast and then added to his hate list which = dead.
In summary you will be perfectly fine, just be careful who you bring with you.

Thanks a lot all for for your responses! I really wonder why sometimes some people say things that will prevent others to do something. I was told by a druid in my server that indifferent with CoV was not enough to be non KOS to Wuoshi. Others have told me that indifferent was perfectly fine but I didn't want to take any chance for my first port. Maybe that druid ported with someone who didn't have enough good faction and that's why he got killed...Anyways, thanks again and I will make sure if I bring someone, it is someone I know :) . Long life to The Druids Grove!

Probably what happened was they were indifferent, ported in with a KOS friend and got attacked. Or there was a bug for a while where you ported in and got attacked based on your 'base' faction, not your actual faction. Like it took a second or two for your actual faction to load. Then Verant changed this to make you factionless when you first zoned in, but people exploited this to get to PoM easier, so they changed it again... confused yet? :)

Aye! Factions are already very confusing to me lol. If you start to included bugs that were fixed, I will admit I get lost easy hehe. My understanding is that after they fixed the bug (and depending how they fixed it) there is still a small chance when you port in that your actual faction will not be loaded and if Wuoshi is around, she wouldn't know I am not an ennemy (after all I just want to sit on her lap no?) :) . Maybe I should try to sit on her lap naked? Lol

"No creature in EQ attacks at indiff"
That is not entirely true, there are exceptions to that.
Remember the centaurs in SK. Every once in away, you would spook the horse and get attacked. But that was a looonng time ago.
04-27-2003, 11:22 AM
Yeah, but centaurs are strange anyway :)
And yes, they've killed me before :(

Well! After putting a lot of sweat over my mouse, I finally ported to WL...but I couldn't sit on Wuoshi's lap :( . She was not up. I was sure she'd be because we had a patch not long ago but I couldn't find out if she would tolerate my presence there....Oh well, I guess one day or another it will happen hehe

For a while I had a really good connection and zoning time (didn't last long though).
I tried porting in while KOS and then hit the ground running. I'd usually get almost to the corner of the mountains where you turn for Kael before I got rooted and dot'd :)

It sounds like someone is mixing up Wuoshi with Yelinak. You can have good CoV faction and still have bad Yelinak faction (since he's on his own). Turning in the WL mercenary cards to Enots/Kcor should raise both, as do Warrior Helmets methinks.

Yeah, I never made it to uberstatus :) I was about 53 at the time...

Very carefully I'd imagine :)

You don't get added to the hate list if an AE hits you. You can however be added if you heal/ buff somone who is kos or already on the hatelist.
04-30-2003, 02:32 AM
Since I didn't see Wuoshi during my first and unique port there I couldn't check if she'd like me or not...but I think Fwin got maybe the reason for the confusion. Most of the ppl talked to me about their CoV faction but I checked Alla and Wuoshi is also on Yelinak faction. This last faction seem unly to be affected by killing in Kael and by doing some quests in Skyshrine. Therefore, many people having even warm CoV faction might not have the correct Yelinak faction. With my druid, I only went to one Kael raid and I have no idea what is my Yelinak faction. My bet is now trying to bring some toes to the Lieutenant Milven (before it was sentry Kcor and sentry Enots) in Skyshrine to see how it does affect my faction. I am not sure regular drakes and wyverns in CS are a good test for Yelinak faction. Maybe they only are for CoV and there is the confusion of some druids who told me they are still KoS to Wuoshi even with indifferent CoV faction...Well, after doing the quest in Skyshrine, I will let you know :) . Unless someone else has a bright idea as how to check Yelinak faction here hehe.

When you kill dire wolves and giants in Great Divide, you get positive CoV and coldain faction. You can check CoV faction by porting into CS, invising targeting a drake or wyrvms(spelling?), run back into the portal area, take off invis and /c. You only have to be dubious or better to not have Woushi whomp on you evertime you land in WL.
Once you get dubious, do the quests in SS. They are listed in Allakhazam's site. The hammer something one is a great one to do. You bind in SS kitchen, port to Thurgadin, get the crate gate back and so on. You get a nice bracer that makes hammers out of it. I am pretty sure that gives you good faction.

If you port in with SoE...you can out run Woushi even if KoS.
He'll follow your ass and start killing Giants =D
Found that one out before I had exodus...boy did I almost mess my pants when I saw Woushi up...
He doesn't open up with his AE first thing from what I saw.
05-25-2003, 08:49 AM
Yeah, just port in and hit the ground running. Know where you're going, and maybe after about 30 seconds just egress and land at the entrance to Kael.
Woushi only ever gave me problems when I wasn't paying attention.

--You can check CoV faction by porting into CS, invising targeting a drake or wyrvms--
If they see invis, then invis is worthless...if they don't, then they will be indiff no matter what your faction is. If they don't see invis you are indiff, because they don't know you're there to care about you one way or the other.

Was this changed at some point? I remember getting attacked by a drake in cs before. A group was fighting right at the dragon circle when it cast AE. I attacked me directly at some point.

I ported into Wuoshi's lap today :)
I LOVE SoE, Innate Camo, and a decent connection.
It's strangely fun now to port in without checking...

A couple of times, though I must admit it was RARE, someone was killing Woushi when I ported in and I got hit with his AE before I even realized what was going on.
He didn't attack me though, and I was able to succor myself to the Kael zone before the next AE, as the groups killing him kept him busy.
