Johnny Cash's cover of NIN's Hurt.

Funny you can't even see the video on the site.

This is the best example of why P2P file sharing has to become legal.

I found it at this link: <a href="http://www.nme.com/features/104451.htm" target="top">Cash video</a>

I'm not really a fan of his, but the video is touching -- unlike the typical tripe on MTV.

MTV really doesn't show anything that could be considered country. It's more like hiphop/r&b/rap/pop and the occasional rock song, when they play videos (which they actually do really early in the morning when I am getting ready for work, never during prime time though).

They used to play this video on CMT all the time, though. I'm not a country fan, but I've always liked the song and Cash's version brings a whole new dimension to it.

he did a decent cover of Rusty Cage, too...

"Hurt" has been nominated for all sorts of awards, not just MTV's video stuff. MTV doesn't play country, and that's what the song was. Dolly Parton made a cover of "Shine" by Collective Soul, but MTV never played that either. Just like you won't see Godsmack on CMT anytime soon.

I hurt myself today, I loaded up EQ. I focused on the gain, but only felt more pain.

The downtime tore a hole, it ripped my feeble brain. I tried an RZ raid, I think we should be paid.

What have you become? My sweestest game? Everything was cool 'till it became a giant plane.

You could have it all...the uber gear. All you have to do, is spend eight hours a night on here...

Back on topic, I liked the Cash version of Hurt, except that he changed the words in one area. While I don't necessarily blame him (his target audience isn't big on swear words or possible blasphemy), I do hate to see a song's lyrics changed by anyone other than its author.

Na, it's hardly even noticable either.

I am still trying to get a MManson version of the Beautiful People not all bleeped up.

CMT was the only place I had seen it aired(cabled>?), and it's not even a country song. Twice only and when it first came out.

From what I've seen MTV rarely plays videos at all any more...

It's either Real World or Road Rules almost all day now. If you want videos go to MTV2, and if you don't like Hip/Hop, you're SOL (and I'm not talking Luclin here...)

I read that the video was shown on MTV 6 times, once for each nomination it received.

I watched the awards show last night... Johnny Cash didn't win, but got to see Madonna get tongue-kissed by Britney. That was worth it :)

You are sooooooo true. That moment solidified my thoughts that Britney is possibly one of the hottest females on this planet.

But as far as MTV goes, shizzy, they suck now, they have sucked for about 10 years now? Back in the early 90's it was good to watch, they still played music videos (shocker). I refuse to watch any MTV anymore simply because its a bunch of crap programming with the exception of the award shows.

MTV was good for awhile. They started adding a couple of shows and that was even ok...anyone remember Remote Control, and what happend to Ken Ober anyhow?

I haven't watched it in over a year and a half, and back then it was a total waste of time if you weren't in to 'r&b'(it's in quotes because that's just what it's called, I don't think it really is r&b though), rap, hiphop, some pop and such. The only rock videos they played, mostly weren't really rock. They had been labeled rock by someone somewhere, but really didn't fit it. Most of that they did play, was the really really popular bands anyhow.

They really need to change their name anyhow. The channel had very little to do with music the last time I saw it. The parts that weren't shows, were supposed to be music shows, and turned in to two guys talking to some person of the moment about everything but music. There's no music in your music MTV. Thanks for taking a great idea, and turning it in to a steaming pile of poo.

Is MTV owned by SOE somewhere down the line? Viacom, whatever that superhuge company that owns almost all media on the planet is called...so big, that Sony is merely a part of it.

Oh and btw...Johnny Cash was nominated for 6 awards. His video got 1, for video direction or something. I didn't see the show, but my feelings from the news snippets is that the only reason he was there was to draw MORE media attention to MTV, and for them to score brownie points.
