a necromancer in my guild died tonight and lost level 61. he was just barely into 61 so of course he undinged. but instead of going back to level 60, he ended up in level 50.

I was just hunting with him earlier that day and I know he was 61. but when I did a /who all GUILD, sure enough I saw him there as a level 50. has anyone heard of this type of thing happening before?

I really hope this is not the type of thing where the GMs would say "I'm sorry, but there's nothing we can do. have a nice day!" if I went from 61 to 50 and the GMs wouldn't fix it, I'd cancel both my accounts and never look back.

P.S. I posted this in the OT forum because it wasn't about a druid specific issue.

I gather from the lack of responses that this is not a common problem. :b I'll be interested to find out if he got his exp restored next time I get a chance to login. who knows when that'll be.. RL = suck :b

Heh, that's quite a bug. You probably would have got more responses to this in the general eq forum.

I have heard a couple of similar problems on Prexus since the global crash on Sunday morning.

Pretty scary when it happens. Hopefully, they have backups... (right?)

As they do rollbacks, you won't have anything more than you had before, and you'll probably get banned as well for lying to a Customer Service Rep (GM)... Heh.

ran into a chanter i've raided with that was level 61. she basically dropped from level 62 to 2% into 61 after getting a 96% rez. this bug is real and something that seriously needs to be resolved asap.

I'm am(was) level 64 when i logged on today, my exp wasn't going up so i relogged.. then it said i was maxed exp in 64 which i wasn't... so i figured it was a UI bug.. but then when i died i arrived at my bind point and it said i was maxed exp on level 60... anyway i guess this is the same kind of bug and i'm releaved to hear your friend got his exp back since i'm still awaiting a response from a gm.

You can probably ding 65 before you will hear from a GM or Sony.

I had a connecting issue and sent a mail to them for information on how to correct it (could not get into game at all). That was four days ago, still no word. Luckily I got help from some friends, or I would still be unable to log into the game. :p

A guildie filled up his yellow 60 or 61 bar only to have it reset to nothing instead of dinging him.

First I like to point out that Email a GM on the Sony board seems to be the way to go in dealing with these problems, turn around may be a couple of days but in a case like this it does get fixed.

This was my problem and the follow ups

For some reason I was Booted to Desktop. After relogging my old graphics were up, no bigge, played for an hour, noticed I was not getting any AA xp even though 90percent was going into it. Did a Clean reboot of the computer, and relogged again noticed I was 99% regular xp into 61, while before I was only two yellow into 61. Xp bug - Petition GM, that I had a bug. Guide responded mentioned he could not do anything and not to die, that I would lose a level, known bug.

Next day I did die, after 96percent rez it dropped me to 99percent in 60regular xp. That was a decrease of at least Two yellow bar of xp in 61. Emailed Sony GM and petitioned in Game. Guide in game said to petition it in game everyday until fixed. Two days later Email Gm in game responded, and correct regular xp lost on the fly

So my moral to the story - use the email GM option, it works

My story starts off kinda weird....
I was lvl 62 fighting in UP, when I was called off to a raid. So I try to port to GD, where some needed pickup, and I get egressed instead. Thought it was weird, so I zoned to ME, and tried again. Still, it egressed me.
Guildmate says log off completely, and log back on.
I do so, and afterwards i am able to port.
We raid Vindi and Velk, and i live both times. (yay)
I go to PoJ for trials, and die due to bugged room...
I arrive at my bind point 81% into 60. That wound up being a total exp loss of 219%....
I /petition , /bug , and with advice from the guild, log off and email server GM.
I log back on and get a guide to respond. Nothing could be done until a GM gets with me.
Every day, I petition, with no word from an actual GM.
In the meantime, I was at 10/90 exp, when I ding 61.
I thought it was weird, and was afraid that the GMs would not give me my lost exp.
Come 4 days later, a GM responds (Tilol) and asks what was wrong. I tell him that I died and lost 11 yellow of exp (10 after player rez) and he puts me on *hold*..... about 2 minutes later, DING 62, DING 63.... he gave me the entire 202% that I lost, which took me to 6% into 63...
Very nice GM, and was extremely friendly.
It did take a while, but results were worth the wait...

Good to hear you got positive results, but this brings a point to head...

Why even HAVE a /bug and /petition command in the game if it takes days to even get a response? The whole idea of having in-game Game Masters is to solve problems that are out of the player's hands. I have to chuckle at this quote from the new POP Manual, page 121 (support):

Your petition is received and noted as soon as you send it, and a GM will help you as soon as they can. This may take a few moments, so please be patient.

I for one don't have 8+ hours a day to play this game, in HOPES of getting a response to reported problems.

Heard something like this on my server boards, it seems that it was something to do with the way your account expansion had been recorded and it drops you to 50 as if you did not have Kunark.

Petition's at least on Inny did result in both level and exp being restored.

Not really related, but back when Luclin had just come out, I was in Hollowshade with my 60 druid just wandering and exploring. Then the servers kept crashing and they had to do a major patch after a huge downtime. I log back in as a level 36 druid wearing gnomeskin armor (effectively, somebody else's druid got switched with mine). Talk about scary! 8o

After emailing the server's lead GM (Yay, Brioma!), I had my character restored within 48 hours to about 2 days before the crash (she said a good deal of the backups had gotten corrupted as well, and this was the first one to have my original char in it). I was just happy to be me again!
