I'm running windows xp, my girlfriend has windows ME. We're 60 miles away at different schools. Recently my school has been messing with the network, and we're now on an internal network where everyone is assigned an IP on the network and must go through a machine to access the WAN. Basically we're behind a firewall now. The problem that arose from this is that I can no longer receive sound or video over netmeeting from my girlfriend :( but I can send to her, and it works fine within my network. I've talked to resnet people, but I heard them saying "what's netmeeting?" in the background, so they're of no help. Anyone have any ideas? When I connect to her it opens the same ports as with anyone on the LAN, but it doesn't send video or audio. It responds as if the video is there(I can pause it), but nothing gets through. I haven't been able to try with anyone else, but I suspect the same thing will happen. This really bites.

Sounds like you are behind multiple layers of NATs (Network Address Translators) now and don't have a routable IP address. You might try having the other person host on NetMeeting or contact your sysadmin & see if you can get a routable address.

Yep, that's what the guy over the phone said. I don't know about her hosting, because like you said I have no routable address. I really doubt they'd give me one, so I guess I'm kind of screwed. I guess I'll bitch at them some more. Thanks.
