I am trying to setup EQ on my computer at work, strictly for playing during lunchtime, of course.

After installing EQ and trying to patch with EQW I get the following error message:

"EQUpdate failed - patch.everquest.com:7000TCP -
ERROR: Der angegebene Host ist unbekannt (the host is unknown)"

We use a Softwarer-Firewall named "Jana-Server 2.2", which opens the Port 3128. I would be able to alter the settings.

I can surf with Opera, Netscape and Explorer without any problems.

My guess is that the Firewall blocks the Port that EQ needs. Does anyone know which port that is or how to configure the Firewall any other way?

Thanks for any info or advice!

Edit:

I changed the HTTPPort in the firewallsoftware from 3128 to 7000. It didnt help with EQ, but ICQ works fine now, hehe.

At Station.com I found an article concerning firewallsoftware, here is the link:

help.station.sony.com/esu...type=match (http://help.station.sony.com/esupport/esupport/consumer/esupport.asp?hotid=5864dc22-3835-11d5-9e49-080020e8ab81&number=3&nShowFacts=&nShowCause=&nShowChange=&nShowAddInfo=&activepage=statement.asp&bForceMatch=False&strCurrentSymptom=&searchtype=normal&searchclass=QuickSearch&bnewsession=-1&selecttype=match)

I still cannot connect to the Update server using the HHTP port 7000. According to this article it looks to me as if I wont be able to play at work at all, since I cant open all UDP ports in the Proxy/Firewall Software.

What happens if you disable the software firewall entirely?

When I disable the software I dont get any connection at all. I found out its actually a Proxy/Firewall our network specialist set up to connect the 6 PC´s we have in our office to the internet.
