When you install these, be sure to set the "Texture Anisotropic Setting" from its default of 0x (point sampling) to 1x. It won't affect performance, but 0x will make textures look terrible.

And where is this option?
Couldn't find it :-/

Ciao for now!

It's in this menu, available through the regular setup options:

Make sure yours matches the picture (especially the slider, which should be set to 1x, not the default 0x). The difference in texture quality is pretty dramatic compraed to the 0x point sampling, which must have been an error on Nvidia's part to set as the default.

This <a href=http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.3dcenter.org%2Fartike l%2F2002%2F08-30.php&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools>article</a> (translated from German) gives an example of what I'm talking about.

Gah. My control panel doesn't have that.

If you're using a Ti4x00 and you don't see the panel above, then your drivers are borked. Try removing them completely (from add/remove in control panel), deleting all Nvidia keys in the registry (HKLM/Software/Nvidia and HKCU/Software/Nvidia), and re-running the 40.41 setup. With Nvidia drivers, an "overwrite" install occasionally doesn't work as you'd expect.

By the way, you can open up a bunch of neat hidden panels by adding the following to your registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
"Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
"NvCplEnableHardwarePage"=dword:00000001
"NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001

(Override the 0x3 Coolbits setting if you already have it for overlocking.)

After doing this, you can set a number of hardware AGP settings, and (FINALLY) override the default refresh rates in Direct3D, at any resolution/color depth!

I have my software in Spanish so it might be a bit different.
Instead of the slider I got a drop down menu which has options from 'most optimum' thru 'mixture' and ending in 'best quality picture'. /shrug
I guess this could be my language's options, but the textures in EQ seem to be good.

Thanks for the tips tho. I see you're a real nerd Tudamorf ;)

Ciao for now!

The "most optimum" stuff probably refers to the mipmap detail level, not the anisotropic setting (they're two entirely different things).

Here's another <a href=http://www.3dgpu.com/yabb_se/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=1360;sta rt=0>link</a> to show you the difference between point sampling (incredibly ugly) with just the regular anisotropic off setting.

Some of the sites are now reporting that the real issue is a bug in these beta drivers, which Nvidia will fix, so hopefully this problem will go away.
