Hello fellow druids. I've been hunting in dulak for quite a while now. Root cooking the mobs on various boats. Good cash loot and when the captains finally spawn, some decent loot. Well, anyway I have a necro buddy who hunts there too, and he can clear boats while I can only get 5 root cooking before they respawn. Well, one day I was thinking, this is an outdoor zone, I can quad! So, I started developing tactics to quadding on 3 of the boats in Dulak.

What follows is my strategy for quadding these mobs. If anyone has a better way, feel free to share your opinions. First, here's a map I got from somewhere, but I've added the names of the boats just in case you've never been here.

<img src="http://www.h3designs.com/~henry/stuff/map.gif" style="border:0;"/>

Now that you know where the boats are, let's get started.

First boat, the stormwave.

<img src="http://www.h3designs.com/~henry/stuff/stormwave.gif" style="border:0;"/>

What you will notice here are my little colored dots. The green dot is the safe spot, I sit here to med without worrying about agro from the dock mobs or the boat mobs. The yellow dot is the first mob I pull, I ROOT COOK this one. Once he is dead. That leaves me with 4 mobs on the lower deck and the entire lower deck to run, circle, and nuke. Once those four are dead, there are the 3 remaining mobs to go.

What I do mostly here, is root cook the one first, wait about 10 mins, then quad the next. Since the mobs are about 20min timer, that will respawn the first so I can have a complete quad for the next time. Rinse and repeat. Stormwave Done.

The next boat, The Lady Dirulia, is a bit tougher.

<img src="http://www.h3designs.com/~henry/stuff/dirulia.gif" style="border:0;"/>

Again, you will notice the green dot as the safe spot, the yellow one to root cook. What I do next is pull the one closest to me at the mast, and the 3 up top. The red line is my pathing line to quad. I can avoid any uneeded agro from the other mobs by staying close to this line. Once those mobs are completed, quad four more. Again, you can wait and get the first root cooked mob in with your second quad if you want.

3rd boat, the Dandolak.

<img src="http://www.h3designs.com/~henry/stuff/dandolak.gif" style="border:0;"/>

Same thing as the dirulia here, root cook the yellow, quad along the path. I pull the one by the mast, the two at the front, and the one on the stairs by the ramp. Once those are finished I pick up four more. There are more mobs on this boat than listed. A few at the back, but I never deal with them. On the dandolak, I can get the second quad done and the original pops on me at 80mana. Next time around, 60m. So I'm losing 20m each quad. If I'm not careful, I have to stop, wait for the repops, and start the process over entirely. Not too bad, but necessary to survive.

Upon completing. I can completely clear the stormwave since there's only 8 mobs. The dirulia, I leave a few at the back becuase there are too many. Again, on the Dandolak, more at the back. I haven't studying the Oceancrasher at all, but I'm sure there are way too many mobs to attempt this and also on the Windscorn.

By doing this, I'm able to get two full quads in before respawns, so that's 8 mobs to my root cooking method which only allowed me to kill 5. 3 more mobs, more loot, and more cash.

I'm Happy.

nice guide, but one thing, what level are ya?

Doh, they were DB from 53 (when I started), and are turning light blue at 55/56. I'm 56 now and still hunt there because the exp is still decent and the money is good.

I'm using my 49 AoE, so I'm sure you can do it at 49, mana permitting. On the Stormwave and Dirulia, I have about 40m left, but the Dandolak, quite a bit less. The mobs on the dandolak have a bit more HP, so takes a few more nukes to kill. Also, I get a few resists from time to time, but still very doable.

Btw, I have about 3100mana without KEI, so that should help ya on what to expect.

Lol... I thought you were actually killing the boats!

*shudders at memories of boats running rampant in freeport after release..*

Now that you posted a strategy expect a nerf.

What? Soloing? Clearly this is an exploit. Or at the very least an unbalanced class ability.

Don't be surprised to see these mobs become casters or become immune to changes in run speed in a future patch.

Excellent post. I appreciate the time you spent creating this guide for us. I hope SOE completely ignores this thread.

Move along....nothing to see here....

Well, if you want to know, druids arent the best classes to fight on this boat. I've seen beastlords, rangers, mages, and a lot of other classes solo on these boats.

Hell, necros can clear the boats. As a druid, I can take 8. So my ability to solo allows me to clear one boat, the Stormwave. Bards swarm kite these boats too. If SOE nerfs this too, I swear I'm gonna be pissed.

If SOE wants no class to solo, then get rid of the solo classes completely, it's about annoying their philosophy.

I agree, great guide. I'm also curious, I've never spent much time in the zone, do you think the ships are worth hunting if the exp given isn't that great? Or is the loot only so-so and not really worth the time if you're not getting the bonus of decent exp?

The ships ARE worth hunting even if the exp isnt that great. On average, I get about 600 to 800p a night. Cash, gems and words that sell. On a good night, I can get over 1k. One night, I think I got about 1.7k in gems, cash, and loot off nameds that spawn.

Geez, you'd need the incomplete boat hull to catch all the dripping sarcasm in these replies :)

The Dandolak's Run should be dark blue to you, solidly til 58 at least. (I know they are at 58, haven't gone back since I dinged 59. I AA exp'ed here at 58.)

If you should ever want to graduate to the Oceancrasher, be vewwy vewwy caweful. If you step too close to the north side (starboard) of the boat, the mobs on the Windscorn pier will aggro, and either a) cast on you, b) heal your quad, or c) train around the unfinished boat and board the Oceancrasher by force. (That was a fun one :) )

You could also get a wizard partner (or just about anyone else) and duo the boats, allowing you to clear the entire boat and a little bit of the pier, too.

The captains are insanely rare... I spent 8 hours on Storm, never saw a captain. Spent 2 levels (as my paladin) on Dirulia, saw two captains. 3 levels (paladin) and at least 24 hours (Bard, doing AA) and didn't see a single captain on Dandy. Then we got two captains in a row one night, before we graduated to the Refinery. Lower level mobs, but better exp. Go figure. Also horrible pathing.
