Hi just looking for any tips and or strats to killin these.

questions:

1) do they summon

2) will other things besides KoS mobs assist them.

3) would charm killing with a mastadon be better

They don't summon

You can get adds but I don't think they are from "assisting" the worm as much as just not liking you :p

Charm can work but Ice Burrowers proc a dispell so it may not stick very long.

IMHO these are FAR FAR from worth it for time vs exp.

I know they "can" drop some rare monk thing but hunting these for exp will probably let you down.

agro kite them with a charmed pet...

Glamor to pull them then snare...then just keep casting snare or glamor to hold agro and the pet will eat the hp away..

jjust make sure you do some damage to get full xp

The randomly proc I think it's a 500pt nuke and dispell, the only things that will directly assist them is other borrowers (they have a very small assist/aggro range though). If you're not kos to dragons the only mobs you should really have to be worrying about is hounds (go go fear : ) that air elemental and the 4 dragon slayers (easily avoided).

Way I normally do them is kill the wolves near the SG zone if there are any, partly for their furs, partly to get them out of the way since those don't make for fun adds. Get yourself a mammy, cok (with no glamour at first), throw some buffs on it to get it's dps up (if you want to bug a mage before hand a muzzle of mardu and 61+ summoned weapons should help make it a bit more deadly) and to make for some dummies... break charm and throw glamour on it. It's effect box should now go | snare | glamour | (buffs) | and then cok now as you recharm it.

Park it somewhere out of the way and find yourself a borrower... first glamour it then run out of range a bit and try to snare as it gets close. It'll take a bit but you need to build up the aggro to aggro kite it anyways :)

Once you have it snared switch out glamour for immolate and start spamming it with that spell ... once you have good aggro built up call your pet it and sick it on the worms arse. Run the worm around as you cast on it (with their melee range and speed you can get epic on it if you keep clicking it while oor so you pretty much have time to cast what ever).

They have lots of HP so it'll take a while, swarm dots and fire spells normally land well (can debuff it's FR for more aggro and help landing those spells though :) . Running them around in a cirlce helps your pet to hit them more often since it doesn't have to move as much but you have to make sure your pet is never hitting it from the front (have to avoid reposites that might dispell your pet). If you do that the goal is to have the borrower run a box around your pet like this

/-\
|x | x = your pet :)
\-/

if charm breaks or you need to refresh savage spirt, root (earthen roots is good for this since it doesn't last long) or park the pet and pull the worm to the side a bit... then run back and do what ever with the pet.

The main thing is the just keep solid aggro on the borrower with lots of immolates/ensnares... and when it enrages call the pet off till enrage is done

Actually, if you're properly agro kiting and the pet is hitting it in the back/side, enrage is negligable.

I did this the other night helping another druid kill a IB..

Other druid was red to me, and I am 55.

I was able to land ensnare, and GoT. Nukes wouldn't hit but Epic and Drones landed. We both had charmed Mastadons on it's arse. And it was a good 5-10 min kill.

No loot, and about the same exp as a solo Velium Hound.

Note to self: It was a rush, a blood pumping fight, but IMHO I'll stick to mamoths, rhino's and wolves. :)

They randomly drop ice burrower silk which is used to make some really decent int caster gear. Also they rarely drop a 'no drop' decent monk tunic.

I've killed dozens of these things. Silks drop in pairs about 1 in 3 IB's. Tunics drop about 1 in 15 or 20. Silks sell for 500p each in Bazaar. Each IB is worth 1 blue AA.

Easiest way is to pull pet with Glamour, then Ensnare, then Charm. Have him guard while you go pull IB with Glamour. Ensnare the IB - they do not summon and are pretty slow even un-snared. Cast Winged Death on IB and any clicky stuff you may have (Drones, epic).

BTW, if you cast Epic dot - you pretty much must start casting at max range (Ext. Range Focus doesn't help epic /boggle). The IB will be almost on top of you when it goes off, but he won't hit you. Just watch the casting bar and when there is the tiniest bit of color left - start running again.

I use the first Winged Death as a timer, let it run its full duration and recast, then send in pet. You should hold aggro for entire fight, just don't run too far out of range. Keep recasting WD and clickies - IB will be dead before snare runs out.

A slightly faster way is to buff the pet with Savage Spirit. I usually will wait till the first WD fades on IB and re-cast WD. Run back to pet and cast Savage (very short range spell). Wait till the second WD wears off before sending in pet. If you send in buffed pet too soon, he will get aggro and be de-buffed, so be patient. Takes about 6 minutes to kill IB this way, but is more work than using un-buffed pet.

Oh yeah, if you get Hound adds during fight (you will), just Ensnare, Glamour, then root. Save them for the end, you should have full health pet after IB is dead. You can also throw some clickies on Hound or nuke and send pet early on while you build aggro on IB. Either way works. If another Hound adds to kill your pet, just Charm the Hound.

Mastedons, Rhino's, and Hounds all work well as pets. Mastedons are pretty slow snared, though. Snaring them is optional - if snared you need to kite a smaller area around the Mastedon so he can get more hits in.

IB's are an easy enough kill with all the tactics laid out here. I usually kite them in a path that runs parallel to the first scar. They are very slow. so once snared you can land everything on them without a root. As was stated in a previous post, click the epic at max range, and it will land before the worm gets to you. What I have noticed is that when the epic hits, the worm actually pauses for a second and makes a writhing sort of graphic as nature's wrath grips him. This gives more than enough time to back up out of the way because they are very slow. I usually keep agro by stacking the dots over and over to keep the damage flowing while the pet beats on it. Takes about 6 min to kite it down that way. If you are below 60, be prepared to have snare resisted more than a few times. These guys are lvl 61. But once snare lands, the battle is yours no matter what your lvl if you have a charmed pet beating him.
