View Full Forums : Have Dire Charm? Good Chardok faction? Read on...

I have spent the last couple of months - when I wasn't flagging or raiding - hunting in Chardok. Messing around one day, dire charming Chokidai Growlers, I stumbled across a quirk of faction that has allowed me to storm through Chardok like a druidic whirlwind.

Previously I soloed some of the named there but only those who weren't surrounded by friends or could be easily isolated. It was fun work but hardly reliable and not particularly fruitful. What I happened to learn one day was that by using a DC'ed pet and my good faction (see sawing between Ally and Indifferent depending on when my last trip to Drofa was...) I could send a pet in against any MOB without aggro. As long as I didn't attack the MOB myself, or get too close the MOB would stay on the pet and none of his friends - no matter how close or how many - would join in. During the fight I could heal and buff and do anything to my pet (Wrath of Wild for instance) as long as I didn't touch the MOB itself.

As you can imagine this opened up new frontiers for me. I proceeded to knock off every named in Chardok one by one, no matter how tough or inaccessible. The only remaining ones to die are the Queen, King and Grand Advisor Zuumul. These tend to be surrounded by too many social healers and my pet and my mana simply can't keep up.

This wasn't just for fun mind you. Prior to Ykesha I spent hours farming the kennel for Chokida Pauldrons and Hammered Golden Loops. In the course of about two months I made in the neighbourhood of 500-600K plat in the bazaar simply from these outings. (best sellers were the pauldrons and hammered golden loops, best volume sellers were imperial wardog collars).

Some caveats. This won't work with a regularly charmed pet - as far as I can tell. Social healers can often make a fight very long and there is little you can do about it. Killing the grand herbalist meant me strategically clearing his area before getting him solo - the shaman social healers were a killer. If you are sitting when the pet attacks then the MOB will aggro and everything will come for you. Same if you are too near a MOB. Somehow the aggro transfers to you and the game is over and you need to run for your life. While this could work with chanters and necro dire charms only druids could really accomplish this solo. Damage shield and our percentage heals are key to success. And yes you do take a faction hit. I routinely ended up back in Droga fixing faction...but they aren't huge hits probably the equivalent of 3-5 goblins.

In closing I hope some druids read this and give it a go. I know its not exactly a challenge and probably not even news to some of you out there (though I never saw any other druids doing this on my server, one of the originals, so it couldn't be that well known...) but it is fun : ) And it made me slightly happier about spending nine points on Dire Charm and hours working faction in Droga for a quest I never managed to finish!

P.S. Most satisfying fight: Korocust, Most fun: (lootwise) - Lorekeeper spawns, Most lucrative: Deathfang, Most frustrating: Overseer Dalgurr (I never got a halfling mask three months on...)
