Quest solved by Viciado Sylvannis, 65 Storm Warden of Vis Maior, Quellious server 2/27/03. This is just a condensation (if you want to cut&paste this to get it under your own EZ-board name, Vici, please do :) ). I distilled this from the thread to help me when I was doing the quest.

Quest Items:
Gunthak Gulf Water (M,ND, clr/dru/shm|all), foraged and dropped in Gulf of Gunthak
A Blackened Vial (M,ND, clr/dru/shm|all), drops in Crypt of Nodox from Broken Skull Initiates & Adherents
Broken Skull Clan Blood (M,ND, clr/dru/shm|all), drops in Crypt of Nodox from Blackhands
Pure Blood (M,ND, clr/dru/shm|all), drops in Crypt of Nodox from Luggold Initiates & Abominations

The drop rates on parts seems to be relatively high -- roughly 1 in 4 of the appropriate critter type will drop the part.

Quest Mechanics:
Brewing combine: A Blackened Vial + Broken Skull Clan Blood + Gunthak Gulf Water = A Black Potion (ND)
Brewing combine: A Black Potion + Pure Blood = A Glowing Black Potion (ND)
Give to Grennik Neltrin in Gulf of Gunthak: A Glowing Black Potion = Pure Blood Scroll (ND)

Note that the combines are trivial at some point less than 104 brewing and they can FAIL. There is a handy brewing barrel right next to Grennik in the lighthouse area of the Gulf.

Fetid essence (trivial 122) and skull ale (trivial 151) are recommended as quick, cheap, and easy brewing recipes to gain sufficient skill to attempt the combine with a reasonable chance of success. Cadin Zharik, PoK (-344, 756): vendor selling fishing grubs
Brewing combine: water flask + fishing grub = fetid essence (trivial 122)

Excellent synopsis, Bjond. Much easier for people to read this than scan through 5 pages of posts :)

The only thing I could think of to add would be the details for the Fetid Essence combine should people need to skill up. In a brew barrel combine 1 water flask and 1 fishing grub. Fishing grubs are foraged but are also sold by a merchant in PoK, Caden Zharik (loc -344, +756). It trivials at 122, which should allow you to comfortably make the brewing combines for your potions with a minimum of effort to skill up.

*Edit* Violaine over at the Shaman's Crucible has helped to narrow the trivial on the potion combines, they were trivial at a skill of 104 when he maded his combines.

Just wanted to add that the blackened vials can also drop from adherents, and the pure blood can also drop from abominations :)

Got it, the only reply I would add is that Grennik Neltrin is right by the lighthouse in Gunthak, trackable from the zone in -- also, he has a brew barrel right by him so no need to get elsewhere to find one.
