The patterns and mods seem to be much more common post-patch. Took a day or two, but I have seen all the ornate leather patterns pop up in the bazaar. I bought the bracer, feet and arms to complete my set (I already had the legs, BP and gloves).

The helm is also for sale, but I'm not going to waste 80K or so for something with half the stats of my current helm (white dragon), a silly effect (plainsight = see invis/ultravision), and no graphic (I believe). The Faerune effect on the elemental armor would be worthwhile, though, even if that cap didn't have the stats....

Just a heads up to all those ornate-hungry druids out there. :)

Just dont overpay =) Ornate is super common and will be plenty in the bazaar soon enough.

Dont count on that. Count on the drop rate to be nerfed.

Where is it dropping outside of the elemental planes? I know the Bp can come from the bot towers but where can one find the legs, arms, boots, etc?

Drop rate today was pretty high, wound up with 4 drops in a few hours in the Dreso wing (silk sleaves, leather legs, plate gaunts, plate bracer).

Any wing better than the others in sol ro?

Had leather legs drop in Tactics off a Hendin(fill in the blank). Just a normal mob, tough mob but still just a mob. I suspect they've overdone it and it will have to be turned back down a bit.

I am pretty sure they will nerf the drop rate of ornate armor soon. The market of them has ruined. too many drops imo.

Doesn't seem like overkill, just that they stuck it in the wrong spot; all the people in high end guilds get to farm it out the butt and sell for cash, and the normal folk are stuck buying it.

Plus, stat wise, some of the pieces are less than spectacular, the high drop rate is needed to drop prices to a reasonable level (150k for leather boots? shove it up your arse) Other than BP/legs, based on the stats most pieces should probably stabilize in the 10-30k range; although leather bracers seem in high demand, so they'll probably be higher.

Even before the drop rate increase leather gloves only went for 20k or so, and now there's a dozen asshats trying to sell them for 75k.

Sol Ro Tower drops are extremely high. Prices are way too high and I would suspect the cost will come down soon.

Speaking of ornate leather, does anyone have the gloves and can confirm the effect? EQTraders lists it as "firestrike of ro" and Allakhazam and Lucy list it as "Summer's Anger". I'm assuming Lucy is the correct one, but I just want to confirm it.

Also, I'm quite annoyed at the Tier 4 and Time enabled guilds farming the crap out of it to make even more money they don't need. SoE took a fun and relatively quiet zone (Sol Ro)and turned it into a madhouse.

Summer's Anger. It lowers the mana cost for Summer's Flame.

Prices for all ornate leather patterns that I've seen have been in the 65K to 80K range. Someone tried to sell pants for 120K-140K last week, but they quickly came down.

I am just happy they are more available. The drop rates are enough to bring the prices down to the "common" folks. Let's hope it keeps up. If people are SELLING it then there is no reason for those who chose not to be in raiding guilds to have it too.

I saw a number of pieces in Bazaar last night for 20k or less. Not bad at all. Most were 40k + though. Drop prices drop!

My guild sold ornate leather gloves in the bazaar on Tunare for 200k before the drop rates increased - this was about 2 weeks ago. So somebody was paying more than 20k! The effect decreases the mana cost for Summer's Flame.

As far as where to hunt, we saw 6 ornate patterns drop in a period of 4 hours (plus 2 bard drums) in BoT off the smaller minis that con blue to level 65 and spawn pretty regularly. I got my mana preservation booties!!!

I've been extremely unlucky with leather so far. I haven't seen any drop but like 3 silk, 6 chain, 2 plate.

This drop rate increas is just what we need. Why shouldn't a level 60+ character have access to the patterns if he or she wanted? The cost won't dip too much, and won't drop below SS MQs. And as a druid on the verge or 63, I would love to be able to get some of the content that I pay for, without having to give up any of my life to get into a guild that has access to it.

Kudos to Sony.

I do agree, they put them in the wrong place. SolRo Tower is the last stop before elemental farming... the people there by and large will be getting (or have gotten) elemental armour soon enough, and are farming this ornate stuff for twinks and friends and to sell.

They should have made a big drop increase in an *accessable* underused zone. SolRoTower was a decent candystore raiding zone already. They should have put all this ornate someplace like PoTorment, which is unused and unraided because the xp sucks, the mobs are annoying and too hard, and there is no decent loot to speak of that you'd use on a twink even.

Prior to this change Sol Ro on Bertoxx was a dead zone expect for flagging raids.

Prior to this change Sol Ro on Bertoxx was a dead zone expect for flagging raids.

It actually looks like it could be an okay XP zone, but by the time you get there you're 1 kill from elemental and the zone just can't compete with the elementals.

I mean, slap some 1 groupable named camps in there with some interesting loot, either make it more accessible or make the ZEM comparable to elemental and it could be the new Sebilis.

If you leave the effects out of the picture and just compare raw stats - Ornate is not really that much better than Vellious HoT quest gear. I was quite surprised when I did a comparison and saw the truth in this.

BUT:
Summer's Anger
FT II
Clicky group replenishment

Can't really ignore these :p I definitely gotta get me a bracer.

I bought boots for 50K yesterday. I will wait on the other pieces to perhaps drop in price, but I wasn't going to take a chance on Mana Pres IV. Worth every cp.

Everything on Xegony is over priced. 10 pairs of this and 10 pairs of that.....everything over 35k and most of it 60k+. That is leather, silk, plate and chain.

The only piece I would pay for given my given situation are pants for the clicky root (frees up a spell gem whee) but 5 pair were on sale from 50-55k last night. I think I'll wait till they drop to the 30k range on my server or I can farm them myself.

Scirocco

I don't know of any mobs dropping ornate that are soloable by a druid. Farm them with bots or friends, perhaps, but not by yourself.

The main reason to wear ornate is not so much for the stats (as noted above, they're only a little better than Velious quest armor overall), but for the effects.

Mana Preservation IV.
Savage Roots.
IH IV.
Blessing of Replenishment.
Summer's Anger.
FT II (can get this twice over).

The helm seemed silly to me, as noted above, since we get the effect in our mask spell already.

Thanks Scirocco :) I figured I'd setup a group and farm Sol Ro Tower. I already have an Ornate BP and Gloves and I'm not overly concerned about the rest since I'm elemental flagged now and will likely be upgrading the other slots (arms, bracers, etc) but the elemental leggings have a totally different effect (Legacy of Bracken on elemental, Savage Roots on Ornate) so the Ornate leggings would still be a nice addition to my current gear setup :)

I don't know of any mobs dropping ornate that are soloable by a druid. Farm them with bots or friends, perhaps, but not by yourself.

I soloed most of a set from tactics pit. Sol Ro mobs are soloable too, but unsnareable and tons of HPs makes it somewhat annoying.

It's the slow cast root. :( Okay, if your outside or don't mind the extra cast time. Probably last longer tho.

Stormfront
07-16-2003, 09:21 AM
Doubt the root lasts any longer since it's actually our level 64 root, Savage Root. Should have the same duration I'd guess as our regular spell version. There are many times I don't use root often, and for these times I wouldn't have to keep it in my spell line up for *just in case* reasons.

Scirocco
07-16-2003, 09:29 AM
I think he was comparing it to our faster casting 1-minute duration root.

I have the fast cast root always memmed. I use it to control mob aggro on a raid (it works on a lot more mobs than I thought it would), and it is very useful for emergency crowd control in many situations. I love the leg effect, though, for the duration, and I click on those whenever possible to save mana (often just to overwrite the one minute root).

Even the "slow" casting leg effect is pretty fast.

Palarran
07-16-2003, 09:31 AM
The clicky savage roots lets me put earthen roots in my spell lineup. When I need a quick root, I use earthen roots for the quick cast time, followed up immediately by the pants during the 2.25 sec recast time if I want the root to last longer. So I end up with 1.75 earthen + 3 clicky savage roots = 4.75 sec with spell gems available immediately afterwards, compared to 2.5 (cast) savage roots + 2.25 recast time = 4.75 sec with the actual root happening 0.75 sec later. When I have a lot of rooting to do and mana is getting tight, I use just the pants.

If I ever get elemental legs, I'd keep the ornate legs bagged and probably use the ornate in all non-raid situations.

Oh ok. I rarely use Earthen Roots, because I rarely have the need for a super quick root. Honestly, I use root mostly when I can't find a group and root/rot some HOH guards :)

I'll have to try out Earthen a bit more, as I kind of skipped that spell. Could never get it on an ethereal turn-in until after I had already bought Savage Roots. lol

Anyone else think it's a little sad that people prefer the effect on ornate legs to elemental?:( Anyway back to the topic...
I think it's great that they upped the drop rate and I hope they don't bring it back down. Considering that it's only sol ro and tactics so far as I know that are dropping pieces from random mobs I don't think it's unreasonable. Sol ro is actually fun as an exp zone, since you can take a wing and not have to worry about trains or stepping on people's toes.
Ornate armor is sort of the elysian of PoP- at least theoretically it should be reasonably obtainable by all the non uber people while elemental flagged guilds are able to get the next step up. And I'm excited that so many guildies- and myself- have been able to upgrade many slots the last week (we are elemental enabled but recently). Leather is still too rare though, many more chain gaunts and we're going to have to start using them as Christmas tree ornaments.

Pit mobs drop ornate? Just recently into Tactics. Is this Ornate off names or rand yard trash?

Tiane
07-20-2003, 01:07 AM
Well, they used to. There was a random named that could spawn fairly regularly that would drop runes/ornate but it was nerfed very hard after the first couple of months. Now it's very rare that the mob has anything at all...

Seeing a pattern yet?! 8/

It appears they've upped the drop rate of named mobs in general. From what I've seen, BoT and tactics named mobs always drop something now (which is only fair given that they're rare spawns).

Of course the enraged war boar is still extremely rare, and it does have other things on its loot table besides ornate.

L1ndara
07-20-2003, 05:32 AM
Now it's very rare that the mob has anything at all...

I think Zelrin and enraged were always about a 10% drop rate, but they used to almost always be up. They were literaly 20 to 30% chance to spawn on any of the wraith/boar spots. Now the spawn rate is no more than 5% at best. =(

Snare, Charm -- you get a mob and you can't root or snare and charm breaks...you click out?? Guessing that's the method.

Quote:
It appears they've upped the drop rate of named mobs in general. From what I've seen, BoT and tactics named mobs always drop something now[/quote]

We've killed tons of 65 minis in BoT this past week, many times nothing other than the ring. However, for a normal experience group...especially after opening BoT up...a group of 65 Barons killing a named and not getting anything, why would they take the risk again?

They always dropped that in the first place. Not even dropping a spec is just rediculous.

I was considering, the majority of people who have solrotower access are obviously in a guild (or flagged with a guild) and probably have most likely Ssra/VT/lower level PoP loot. Why would they want ornate leather? Pfft...its not *that* good
