I wasnt sure whether to put this in the spell section or here, but thought this section might be a little more appropriate :)

I just got Moonfire 4 or 5 days ago (a little late in my career hehe) and have been nuking like a mad thing with it :D . I have SCF1 but have not got a single crit with it yet. I've regularly scored crits in the past with Wildfire. I wondered if my crits had somehow broken so switched back to wildfire for 15 mins or so after a couple of days and sure enough scored a crit after almost no time at all - so switched back to Moonfire and still nothing!

I confirmed with a guildie that he has scored crits in the past with Moonfire - so I know the spell isnt "immune" or something. I just wondered if anyone else had had this same problem recently - maybe its buggy atm? Or am I just having an extremely bad unlucky streak? :(

Any replies welcome, and thank you in advance :)

No fears, you are just having a very nasty bit of bad luck with Moonfire. Believe me, it does crit, and its a glorious thing to behold =P I believe after SCF3 I was critting for 2500

Just remember, you only have a 2% chance to crit. So you're not going to see very many of them at all. But keep at it, you will see them sooner or later.

BTW, it took a guildmate of mine (nukes even more then I do) nearly 5 days to get her first crit with SCF 1

I've got another question along this line.

Since I got SCF1, I crit with Moonfire about once a night. My crits are in the 1550 range. I thought crits would be twice the base spell damage (1150). What are the rest of you getting on Moonfire crits. Thanks!!

You get the crit for 2300 after you have purchased scf3. Until then, you get lesser amounts with your crits.

With focus items you can crit higher than 2300. Just remeber to get those summoned bracers on raids if you don't have Improved Dmg III or higher items!

SCF is one of those skills that gets progressively better and better (as opposed to MC, which you just pay more and more for the same effect).

SCF1 == 2% chance of +33% damage
SCF2 == 5% chance of +50% damage
SCF3 == 7% chance of +100% damage

This works out to something like a .66% increase in damage output, a 2.5% increase, and a 7% increase.

So what you're paying, per AA point spent, is:

.66/2 = .33 per point at L1
(2.5-.66)/4 = .46 per point at L2
(7-2.5)/6 = .75 per point at L3

This makes SCF one of the only skills that gets more and MORE effective the more points you spend in it.

It's also why you shouldn't bother buying SCF1 until you plan on going all the way to L3 ... the first level doesn't really buy you much damage increase really.

Anyway, that's kinda off the top of my head, hope I got the costs and percentages right, it's been a while since I first looked at this. =)

Just thought I'd give an update as this post seems to have gained a 2nd wind :)

I never did get a crit on Moonfire with SCF at lvl 1. It wasnt untill I bought lvl 2 that I got my first crit! So I think I'll never know if it was buggy or I was just unlucky :\

As it stands, I've now got SCF3 and a new ID3 item (/em dreams of one day getting ID4 to go with Summers Flame) and I crit like a mad thing :D

I'd have to recommend this AA to everyone - its so much fun :D

I got my first crit last night with Moonfire after 10 days with SCF1. I hit for 1602. Slightly wimpy, but heck, its a start.
