10/15 on Test:

10-15 23:39 Changed Spelltype from Beneficial to Detrimental

Makes it difficult to refresh on pets as well, if this is gonna cause aggro now. Charm would have to break first.

this makes perfect sense though...

they're just fixing a 'bug'

A "bug" which has been there for, lets see, 2.5 years.

Glamour came out with kunark as I recall.

Over the last week or two the fact that Glamour of Tunare can be cast on pets WHILE CHARMED was mentioned on this board repeatedly.

Now it is being nerfed.

See the connection?

Funny thing is how fast they are reacting to this "bug" meanwhile it's still a duping, ubermob-respawning, "zone-crash-a-thon" in game after like 5 weeks of /bug reports and message board posts teaching people how to turn 5 k into 80 million :/ .

I have to hope it's not a HUGE case of failure to prioritize but rather just the difficulty of nailing down the crash bug.

On the subject of this nerf though... I have found that basically the best way of dealing with recasting a negative effect on your charmed pet is to: 1) Pet guard here 2) Move to just outside max spell range (or as far as the area allows) 3) Click Innate camo (or hide, or invis, or dispell on pet) 4) Resnare as pet charges toward you (or root first if indoors in cramped quarters with an uber pet) and then 5) re-charm and get back to business :)

If you're charming indoors, wedging yourself into a tight 90 degree corner will often allow you to channel thru some serious pummeling. And if you do it often you may want to drop some aa points into the channeling and damage *avoidance* archtypes.

So far I have only put 2 points into channeling and zero into avoidance and with my frostreavers cloak for spell haste 3 I've been able to channel thru recharming hasted pets with only occasional need for heals from the group cleric.

Good point. If true it is further evidence that nobody on the dev team plays a reasonably high level druid, since glamour is pretty much a staple of any charm session. If there was one, the non-aggroness of the spell would have been well known.

If there is one, then I find the change ironic. In my humble opinion, if something has been some way since release, for two and a half years, it can no longer be considered a bug. Since there are no devs currently on the team that also worked on kunark spells, obviously the original Glamour of Tunare, non-aggro, was "As Intended", and stood so for so long. The current team obviously has a different set of "Intentions" than any previous team.

Just notice this change also. I don't use the spell all that much if ever. But it does sort of prove that if the spell can be like this for so long and not be considered a "bug" then either there are no high level druids amongst the group at Verant or the high level druids they have don't charm at all. Could be another reason why they don't realise what plight Druids and charm are going through.

So notice to Verant - get a druid that likes to charm.

On another note notice the name change of Flock of Eagles to Gaggle of Eagles. I think Verant has Jester in mind when they make up druid spell names. Protection of the Cabbage was bad enough, but Gaggle .... come on. Why not Flight of Eagles, sounds alot more on a serious note. Truely druids already have enough jokes about them, do we really have to have every ROFL ever time they ask for a spell.

You know in my time that I have used this spell when I charm kite it doesn't make the charm last any longer or less, it just makes the animal less resistant to CoK.

At least thats what I have experienced

Well, on the UP side, it's a fast casting spell that we can now use to pull mobs with...

I think it's a great change. Fast casting, medium range (200), low mana spell to pull.

I think this change is fine. It will be great for pulling non-snared wolves to where I want to camp in ME. On recharm it maight take me an extra 15 secs to recharm. But, I have also found that GoT doesn't seem to affect the length of charm to any great extent. It really only changes things slightly for my play style. Mostly it changes the way I think about the reason I have this spell, which is no big deal compared to the changes that other classes are going through.

I am pretty happy with the druid spells as they exist and what I am seeing for PoP. I'm not gonna find reason to complain about this.
