Im curious.

Why have SoE nerfed treeform so it doesnt work in Planes or Luclin.

I know this is an old thing but why even do it? Whats the reason for it?

I thought I saw recently that you COULD treeform in some of those places now. Did they change it back?

Well i tried. Plane of Fire.....Plane of Valor, Plane of Tranquility and Hollowshade...none worked.

I am seriously puzzled by how much our illusions have been restricted. What with the stacking issues, KOS issues, and zones you can use them in, SOE must believe they are extremely powerful.

Doesn't work in PoStorm either.

I think SOE just assumed that no one would bother to test this, Tils. I mean.. who uses treeform? ;)

Hehe this spell is about as useless as they come. I really wish they would look it over.

For the bad side effected (aka rooted) they should at least allow it to stack with all our other buffs.

Like make it cancel sow/soe/mount and root yourself until you click it off or it wears off. I dumped all my tree form spells to the back of my book. Just like I dumped all my wolf-forms to the back of my book once I got forest mask.

That wasn't a lie. They just gave out information at the wrong time.

It use to work like that, dispelled sow, made it even more worthless back then.

It worked with sow/soe last time I cast it (and it worked). I was messing around. I think I was the first talking, invisible, floating, sow'd tree most people had seen (or not...I was invis).

I used actual treeform a lot more at lower levels. I'd cast it, pull something to me with a spell, ds myself, then melee and cast like crazy. Really helped keep your hp up in melee at really low levels. Then things started hitting me for 10 damage on a regular basis, so it got risky. It was funny though. Imagine a wolf just attacking a tree, then suddenly dies. You don't swing your arms in treeform, so that is what it would look like.

Now it's restricted in so many zones that you should be able to use it in, it's about worthless. It used to be a good emergency spell too. Low on hp and mana at level 30? Well just cast treeform. It's not much, but puts you at 5 or 6hp per tick, it's low mana, and you can just med while you regen instead of healing yourself.

Oh well, they bled the fun outta that one too!

Oak used to be good to get mana back after you died. It's cheap and medding up the 1200 mana for PotG used to take a full 6 minutes without it, about 5 with.

Someone at SOE hates druids being other forms.

Treeform = useless

Wolf form = Suicide

I haven't checked it in a city zone, but supposedly non playable races use your faction now. That is more of a bad thing than good really. The ogres in Feerrott used to be indifferent to me, even the bouncers, in wf...with you keeping your own factions now, they will be KOS.

What I want to know is why anyone even wastes the space to post about such a useless spell?

It was once said by VI that it was supposed to be useable in all zones with trees. But just like animals and plants, never try to rely on the obvious.

I'll bet most of you who have cast the spell have only done so to test if it works in a zone... NOT because you REALLY want to use it.

Sorry, Arienne, but you lose your bet. I loved this spell in my younger days when I was meleeing Aviaks... And I was really happy when they changed it, so that you wouldn't lose sow when casting treeform :)
But I agree that the 'upgrade' spirit of ash is useless.

It's too bad group treeform never made it to release... that woulda been handy to use on the melees against fearing dragons!

Only times I ever used treeform, was when I was buffing up lowbies, in the newbie area's. Would ooc " casting sow, and druid buffs at such and such place, just come and hug the tree."

To answer your question on why it was originaly restrictied in many zones, the answer give back when the expansions first came out was that it was a game engine issue. The zones it didn't work in did not have tree objects of the type the spell used so therefore you couldn't transform. What they supposedly did was go back and modify the zones to have a tree model for the illusion to use in those zones. That is probably also why it didn't work in the elemental planes, no tree's with the right flags.

It would even be more useful if it really did work in all zones that have trees...or at least a forest like area in them. It doesn't though. That it doesn't work where it's supposed to makes it even more useless.

That's just the only option I see it being usefull in, is low on hp and mana...so you cast the low mana treeform instead of just regrowth and medding. It used to get you to indifferent faction with a few monsters. Those got fewer as you increased in levels, but now there is nothing it will work against.
