I believe these changes are great and should take effect as soon as possible. I am still a young druid and already i can see the importance of my character becoming less as that of other casters increases due to their increasing power. Yes the druids are getting more powerful but when compared to the growing dot dmg, healing power, buffing, DD, and other spells it seems that druids at lvl 60 have the potential to fill in a role of that a lvl 50 cleric, shaman, or necro could do...its just isn't right. It seems as though with every expansion the changes made to other players exceed those made to the druid. When i first decided to play it was because my friends told me about how verstile a druid was i couldn't wait to get my new druid to lvl, but it seems as though us druids are really being ripped off!!! I support this statement and i encourage those who started it to continue their efforts in making sure that our class is recognized and given an equal opportunity in the high end game.

My healing became so bad, that I have switched specializations to evocation. These changes are neccessary to keep druids involved in the high end game. A line of cold based debuffs would be awesome(for us evocation druids). Wow if even half these healing changes take effect, I may have to change specialization back to alteration.

I have only been in Norrath a short time and my druid is my first/only char, but in that short time I have been told more than once that druids are useless at higher levels.

I love being a druid and exploring the countryside, popping in and out of places, bonking baddies even when no one is around to group with, and I had figured that when I reached this mythical 'useless' age my druid would become a 'taxi, tailor, candlestick maker' (so to speak).

So I support anything that will allow me to not turn into the 'younger sibling that no one wants tagging along'.

Wow that was just great...

really hope Verant listens on the Dot part in particular. Always seemed strange to me that such a class-defining line of spells just stopped at level 53. And damn I need more ability to heal...lots more. Those AoE's ... even the ones in Velious ... burn through my mana FAST. And 90% of the time if I am on a raid, you may as well call me a level 40 cleric cuz that is about the level we operate at, healing wise. When the original class balance stuff came up I remember some clerics got upset about the idea of more healing in other classes, but truth is, we don't ahve CH. End of story. No matter if Verant doubled all the effectivenesses of our healing spells we still could not hold a candle to the clerics (and yes that is as it should be).

Great post...hope it gets noticed.

I gotta admit you did a fairly decent job here, speaking from a cleric's perspective. You all must remember the hell clerics go through till 34 as we get passed over due to druids being available, you must also remember our inability to solo like you all can and the persistent poverty we face. We do all this to get to the end game, and recently we have lost the uber feel of an exp res, so nerfing clerics any more would be hard felt.
You want only to accentuate what you are unique in and I see no problem with that, least yer not asking for aegolism and complete heal ;)
Would honestly like to see changes to the cleric class as well for travel, at least giving us the power to invis like every other caster in EQ would be a tremendous help in a CR or wipeout.
One suggestion may be to send this to the Cleric MB for further priest input, their backing may make a bit of difference.

I whole heartedly agree. Most Druids in our Guild play other chars as mains now :(

One point which was not mentioned: by horses sow and especially cheetah loose more and more importance. Since I play on a PvP-server Cheetah is meant to be my "last chance of escape". Even if cheetah is only short duration bards can outrun me - this should really be changed and Cheetah should be by far the fastest speed in game what makes sense keeping short duration in mind. Also the AA abilities of Druids are pretty disappointing in my eyes :(

Druid was my first character in May 2000. Got her into the mid 50s and wasn't needed in a group anymore so I started a Rogue. The only reason I levelled to 57 was so I could succor across Siren's for ToV raids. As we all know, even that isn't needed anymore (at least not at 57). Anything to help the druids become more welcome in group situations would help me pull my druid back off the shelf.

I can't remember when the last time I did something on a raid that was actually USEFUL. Sure, I heal the cleric, but if they're gonna die, they're gonna die. My heals are cosmetic. Mostly, I make and update important sounding hotkeys "Dogpile on the druid, group buff incoming" or "Snaring the %T." They might just as well say "Look, your druid is doing something...QUICK LOOK!"

I have a shaman and a bard, so I from my game experience, and shaman experience I can pull and comment here.

Bards have had to deal with this for a long long time, the jack of all master of none. Don't expect much, we have learned not to.

Yes druid healing is crap now, it needs to be upgraded. Here is the kicker though. Compare the shaman and the druid and consider the way Verant thinks. If druids get a heal upgrade so will shamans. They seem to be meant to heal the same. Both dot well with the shaman taking the lead later, buffs are a bit in the shamans favor. But druids can out nuke, port, have damage shields, even a debuff nuke.

Also you are paying the price of a relatively easy time leveling, and having a seemingly more powerful character early in life. You could do it all for so long, now you pay the price so to speak.

Epic won't be changed.

Healing might get increased

Stacking on PotG is valid and I think you can get this done

DoTs won't get upgraded. Your ae spells which I did not mention above, take the place here in some ways. Quad kiting really shoots any hope of increased damage out put down.

A single target PotG is a good idea, not sure if they will or not. But I would if I were them.

My main is actually a Wizard and I play a level 22 druid.

What I see is that Druids are finding themselves in a very similar situation to that Wizards found themselves in about a year ago.

"Not wanted" is probably the simplest way to term it. At the time we were told that it was a problem of perception (typical corporate politics.) We got a bit of an overhaul and are now a viable class again.

Druids were historically the uber class and subject of some resentment, but the balance has again tipped and it an odd situation you now find yourselvelves in for the high level game.

I just hope we get to a stage where there isn't a constant "poor mans" class in EQ that needs looking at every time changes go in. I'm hopeful we are geting toward that and I look forward to playing my druid high level with the hope of a fulfilling class.

I have been around for several years now. After 3 years of playing EverQuest I have seen the druid population decline significantly. I do hope that Verant takes the Druid populations concerns and tries to balance druids to a true jack-of-all-trades.

I only read the first post, will come back to read the rest at work later, BUT, i agree almost completely on just about each of points mentioned.

agreed, ESPECIALLY about the 10% non-cleric healing penalty. The healing penalty and the hybrid mana cost penalties never made sense to me...we're already getting the spells much later in life where the effectiveness has dwindled naturally. and hybrids get the spells MUCH later and have signifficantly reduced mana pools to begin with. but i'm rambling...

I agree with this petition. On large raids it used to be desirable to have a druid in each group. These days with /tgb and all, raid leaders feel only 1 druid is needed for the entire raid.

While I wouldnt mind the DOT, I mostly agree with all the additions that will make us more raid oriented. The way things stand Druids are simply not essential, (and probably wouldnt even be missed) at the high end game.

I am a 41 druid only, but the affects of this are already affecting me, i can barely goup in SolB. I have lvl 60 druid friends that only play there alts now because it is so boring on there druid. I back this up completely, please verant take this into consideration.

/agree with the original letter completely, I only have ONE small bitch that I'd like to add and thats about our USELESS pet spell, it's a waste of mana to cast for something thats down in 2 to 3 hit. It's retarded they need to do one of 2 things, make the pets more like in the 40's with a little more HP and a little meaner bit, or just get rid of the damb thing.

I agree with the fact that druids need some improvements.. but..

I feel that ports to Luclin totally goes against the lore and back-ground history of Luclin itself. Was Luclin not teleported to by wizards only, and reconnected by a wizard? Are the scions not wizards themselves? (Little note--albeit they do not cast the spell, they are supposed to be doing it)

Otherwise, I agree, faster heals, but no group. Nukes should remain the same (hello, wizards are nukers). Almost all of my level 55-60 druid friends agree that they are fine with their nukes.
