I am only 51, but i have tried other classes too, and it amazes how my druid can be outpowed so dramatically by level 30 chars. In heals, dots, dd's, just about anything.
I have not tried all other classes, but i do know that my addition to a group, even with played with all the skill i have been taught and learned is not enough to keep up.
I either need twice my current wisdom our just some more output in SOME form to keep up with a group.
In hopes of not being overlooked i add my voice to a great post,

The whole transport issue is total BS. Verant just screwed us out of a God Given right to port.

Healing issue...I do fine healing as a secondary..and can keep a group on their feet during a raid. But i think that with the evergrowing mobs that deal out a boatload of damage that we need to Keep in line with these changes and get some definite improvements in this.

DoT issue.../agree

Epic Issue......Our epic really stinks IMO. We get overwritten by the Necro epic. It takes 7 seconds to cast...and has about as much damage as a ES Vambrace or Stinging Swarm. Our epic is for the stats alone...PERIOD. This needs to be changed to a decent Damage over time ratio. Our epic is outdated with all the changes and serves us little in the future.

Direct Damage Issue....I think that with the improvements of Spell Casting Fury...that they did us some justice in these improvements. I have no problems during raids to deal out damage. Albeit..i cant keep up with Wizards...but i do a damn fine job of KSing as much as possible during guild functions.

I think that this topic needs to be brought to the surface and made Verant pay attention to this. Its a well written topic and has ALOT of support by the druid community. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY!!!

I very much agree with this petition. As at level 49 druidess, Healing has been a very difficult matter since level 45. Since we do not get Sup heal till level 51, druids are pretty much frowned upon. Spending an hour or more /lfg is not my idea of a very fun time.... My first character was a dwarf cleric and as a healer - clerics can't be beat BUT that don't have dots or teleport and so my main now is Teira my druid. I find myself without groups when a shaman is available and we TRULY need an upgrade in all things listed in this manifesto!!

My support and that of many druids on my server and in my guild plead for revamping of this class!

I wholeheartedly agree with the original post and petition. As a 43rd level Druid myself, I find that I'm spending more time developing Alternate characters. With more and more of my online acquaintances and friends moving into the higher end game, it's becoming apparent that there's little call for Druids at that level. As a result, I'm seriously considering abandoning my Druid character completely and concentrating on a different class that actually has some use beyond level 51. Such changes as this are long overdue and desperately needed. I cannot count the times I've been passed over for a number for raid groups or even general groups because I was outclassed by a cleric, nec, shammie, ect. Often enough I find myself soloing some mind numbing camp or leveling my alt to be able to enjoy the game again.

As a 52 Wizard with a level 30 druid slavegirl, I would like to sign my name to your petition. I agree to all Except for the Ports on Luclin. For Obvious reasons. If there is a spire, you have no business porting there unless you are a Wizard. If there are more sutible locations on luclin, such as TM or GF, I'm all for that. It would be more helpful for druids to have a port to where Wizards can't port anyway.

I agree whole hartedly. Post 50 is very tough for Druids. Heres a situation I have encountered:
One day traveling through oasis Iee a fellow guild member at the dock. He asked for some buffs so he could go about killing some mobs. I was 52nd lvl. He was a 16th lvl Enchanter. A month goes by and the same Chanter that BTW plays the game alot less than I do is now 54th lvl..the same as me. Not a big issue at this point. About a month goes by and I make it to 56th lvl and Im given condolences by another guildy (that I didnt know very well cause his name just recently started popping up in game. He was a Warrior 50th lvl. I ask the Warrior "are you new to guild or an Alt?" He said Im the alt of the chanter you buffed in Oasis (not using names). So basicly the point im making is in 3 months of game play and I play ALOT! I gained 6 lvls post 50. A fellow player gained 88 levels and more post 50 than I. Hmm..wheres the balence. Ya soloing gets you to 50 but after 55 soloing is not a viable option and with the lack of abilities that are needed by high lvl groups I dont think Druids got the fair end of the shaft.

For the most part I agree with everything the letter states as shortcomings for high level Druids in the Endgame. With the exception of maybe the part about the snare being removed from the epic.
As a level 60 Druid I have for some time now felt lost as to my uselfullness..I can't heal sufficiently to be the healer in a high level group..my 1024 nuke is pretty nice but drains my mana if used repeatedly..the only time I get invited for groups is if I'm needed to be a porter.

I play Karin Starbright, a level 55 druid on Tarew Marr and I fully support the changes proposed within this document. I feel that it would revitalize the love for the druid class that many of us in the high end game have lost due to our lack of a place on raids.

I agree with this as I have a level 52 druid and with the luclin exp. I found it almost impossible to find a group who wanted a druid .....every other caster class was more desirable and a group was to be had only as a last resort or if a guildmate would invite me so disgusted with the turn of events I made a cleric. If the imbalances of druids were addressed I would play him again.

I think its about time VI understood the pain us high end druids deal with everyday, No drops we can use or want on uber mobs, cant heal, 60 spells are to rare, to expensive, and mostly worthless, inability to act with any efficiency in a raid, and a epic that ends up worthless on most high end mobs now due to the immune to speed changes they have

Well-stated, even though I think a few parts are going to be looked on as being more pretentious than objective ( druid epic DoT being one ).

I'd have to disagree though and say that since the release of Kunark I've felt that druids have been more laborious than fun to play.

I would really like to see these changes take effect.. I have currently QUIT playing my 48 druid because I have seen where the road with her is going, and I didn't like it..

If these changes took place, I might actually start playing her again..

I have been playing EverQuest since March of 1999, and have played a druid for my main character since June of 1999 and I have to say I agree with this document wholeheartedly. In the highend game druids have come to be less and less useful, and it is certainly discouraging. There is a definite need for the revitalization of the class, and this proposal brings about some excellent ways in which to do this.

Break the cleric monopoly on healing! Clerics should be efficient yes, but not 20 times as efficient as druids. That's like saying a wizard should have nukes that are 20 times more mana efficient than an Enchanter (currently they are just less than twice as efficient).

I admit that I often feel rather useless on raids. Giving a Druid more healing power would definately make us more valueable.

EVERY class has a point BUT the druid, it takes the minor points of every other class. EQ was trying to base some of its ideas on D&D its a fact not my opinion(personnaly i ain't a fan of D&D) They tried to make the druid the "jack of all trades" for spell casters. They pet is horrible the nukes are crummy and the heals...i can sooner heal a warrior with 20k hp than a druid can USING MY WARRIOR.

The only reason I got my epic was because I couldn't get a group very often, even being in a large high lvl guild and spending much of my levels grouped.
If there is any other class available to go for exp I am told they are full, even people that I've played with for a year and consider me a trusted friend. Druids just are not desireable to group with, necros are prefered over druids these days, sheesh 8P. Soloing from 58-60 is going to suck very very badly.

These changes aren't nearly enough.

Druids need a half CH (only 5k hp for 375 mana)

(Yes, this is sarcasm, but I feel your proposed changes do not follow any desire for a truly balanced class. Its more like, "How I want to be way more powerful". Give that proposed group heal and I would want 4 clerics on a raid and 20 druids. Druids who could heal better, debuff, nuke very well on debuffed mobs, provide transport, buffs, regen, DSs, etc. I have no inherent problem with making druids better healers. I do have a problem with making them much better healers while they stay much better at, well... everything else as well. Btw, there are no druid circles on Luclin. Moon transport is strictly a wizard created affair).

So /dont agree.


MY changes:

1. Single person PotG, obvious.

2. Group Nature's Recovery (900p regen over 3 minutes, 1k mana). This *very* nicely adressed the problems of druids as healers in AE groups. Without displacing the cleric classes (clr/pal) as the instant AE healers.

3. Increase Nature's Touch to 1500hp for 400 mana. (will give clerics a slighlty better sub CH heal to balance this out)


Make those three changes and druids are again very viable for healing in any situation. Yes, they won't heal tanks nearly as efficient as clerics, but there is no way to do that without scrapping druid TPs, SoWs, DoTs, Nukes, Debuffs, DDs, etc and still end up with a rough 'balance'.

I am tired of joining groups, only to have to cast PoTG, and then right click my BP every 10 mins... because my other healing abilities are limited =P

And please, for the love of Tunare... work on our bear pet and charm animals instead of making these high level spells so useless.
