I think I've been talked into playing EQ again. The very last time I played (about 3 or 4 months ago), I was griefed by a wizard in PoN. One of the things he did was repeatedly dispell the charm on my pet raven. How did this happen? Was it as simple as dispel magic? I didn't think dispell magic from another player was supposed to work on charmed pets.

dispel works OVERLY well on charmed pets... Ive asked a few times to make it curse counters so less people could dispel it, or make it 4X72 instead of 1x16 or 1x32 (most charms)

First time I ever got into it with a druid on my old server (Coea) she was mad i was killing stuff with a direcharmed spider in Velks near entrance, where she was slaying or something, so she dispelled it~

I was very unhappy chanter...

Wow! Considering how much most people dislike druids using charm, I'm surprised that I hadn't ran into this before. I'm surprised that this hasn't been griefed to hell and back.

Some people seem to take particular joy in dispelling pulls (charmed or otherwise).

Had an incident in PoF a while back. Me and a wizzy were kiting doomfires (the level 68 red cons) at 2nd castle. I would pull with snare, lay in some DoTs and kite to FR ramp where the wizzy would unleash pure whoopass on it.

Apparently, this other druid disliked our pulling and kept on dispelling my pulls. I'd be running back to ramp when I'd see "Your ensnare spell has worn off, Your swarming death spell has worn off," etc.

My partner didn't want me training the druid. I was inclined to agree. Stooping to his level didn't suit me. Besides, I was an experienced kiter and could handle resnaring my mobs.

Usually, ignoring the griefer and showing that you are unaffected by their efforts will discourage them enough to stop. Well this particular one was stubborn.

So I memmed Burst of Flame and used that to pull my mobs. As soon as the dispell hit, the doomfire made a beeline for the poor sap. It was over quickly.

I resnared my mob and my partner and I continued with our kites.

It should be noted that dispell also works on Dire Charm. Had an enchanter friend lose a giant in Kael before because one of the mobs in there dispelled.

Yea thats usefull...all he does is bring his friends and PvP you while your soloing or just nuke hell outta you while your busy with a mob.

Same result you have to leave or die so its a disruption which is what he wants.

and sure you could then get your friends and come back and kill him...but you could do that on a blue server and just kill alll the mobs...same result.

Gotta confess, I've "accidently" dispelled quite a few charms. Snares too for that matter.

If player_X can't be bothered do keep their quad away from me (after being asked politely), or gets in trouble and dumps her buffed, duel wielding ex-pet on me when they gate. Watch out next time you're in my vicinity. There's a certain female halfling on my server, I'll dispell anything I ever see behind her. "Oops, I pull with dispell, sorry".

While it's not something I normally do, I have no problem teaching manners to people.
