A while back I seem to remember that max mana cap was raised to something..

Anybody remember what that was? Or even better have a link to the actual info?

Well, if we had a better search function! ;)

Edit: here you go

Today on EQCasters theres a post from Rich Water, Lead Designer saying that:

"With all attention focused on the cap in recent days, the dev team looked it over and we agree-there's no reason to place an artifical cap on mana enhancing items.
On test server now, we've changed the rule so that players get full value from all mana increasing worn items. We expect this will go live with the next patch."

Only thing I could find, but this implies that there isn't a cap any longer.

Hmm. There was a cap based on level and int/wis. If you twink a level 1 you'll hit it very fast where you can put on and take off items and the manabar won't change because you've passed the cap. I'm not sure what the formula is but at 65 the cap must be very very high.

There still is a cap based on int/wis. But I remember this discussion too, over a year ago. I believe someone found the unpublicized cap to be 5k and challenged VI to say that the finding was incorrect. VI couldn't deny it, backpaddled a lot and eventually started the spin doctor Mr Niceguy approach of removing the cap because the players wanted it removed. I believe that it's removal (or at least raising of the cap) was finally confirmed by the player(s) who had first discovered it.

well i'll try to clear things up some. . .
back in may Enchanters discovered Gather mana didn't completely refill our mana bar. GM was capped at 5k so there is no 5k Cap. Now GM returns 10k mana so i guess we can assume thats the new "unattainable" cap.

Weapon damage is capped until level 20, maybe there's a similar mana cap that is lifted around level 20 too?

I think the wizzies did some testing on mana caps and found a cap on manapool enhancing buffs (VoQ, Kodiac's Expansive Mind, etc). Most people didn't notice it because we couldn't reach that cap. A wizzy with flappy could and would reach that cap given enough +mana buffs.

I also believe that SoE took that cap away at some point. I didn't know there was a worn manapool cap. Although considering all caps imposed in the game, it sounds reasonable that there would be.

But as someone mentioned, that cap is greater than 5kmana.
