which some people seem to not know exists.

/dopropertinting on

It makes a world of difference to the way the characters look.

If you get odd things happening or dont like it just put it back by typing...

/dopropertinting off

oh this only effects luclin models and you have to zone to see the change.

It might depend on your vidcard or setup, but I had to totally reboot EQ to get mine to work.

Yeah, I had to camp out and back in to get mine to work.

And on some luclin models it puts a weird black face on them. On certain dark elf and high elf male models. Everythign else looks fine, so I call them "Men in the iron masks" and leave it. :)

I ran into someone who had been playing EQ for years and didn't know about the logs. :)

I've played with someone for a year.. we quaded and hunted together all this time, I even know him IRL.

About 2 weeks ago, I let him play my cleric on a raid because his account was down for a bit and come to find out... He had no clue about using function keys to target.

I think it also took me about a year before I figured out the U key opened doors too. hah.

Well you inadvertantly solved an issue I'd been experiencing. My druid looked, well, like some bizarre wood elf male stripper on my main account's screen. On his own screen, he looked "normal."

Here's how he looked to my paladin:

Check out the cut outs on his sides, etc. *shiver*

On his own screen (and on my wife's screen), he looked like:

As it turns out, I had long ago set "/dopropertinting on" on my paladin's system, but had never done so on the druid's system. After turning it OFF on my main system, I can now stand to look in the druid's direction. ;)

Hopefully there won't be any new problems for turning it off - I haven't noticed any real anomolies on my druid's system.

For some reason when i turned Luclin models on, just for a day becuase they kill my computer, all models were all messed up like in that first picture. Turned them off until i got my horse, and now some halfling models, not all but the majority, look like that first picture :/.

I did /dopropertinting last night and it didn't do anything though.

sometimes you need to delete the texture caching files.....their located in your EQ directory and have and extension of txc if your messing with models.

I was never so horrified with EQ than the day I did a "/dopropertinting on" command and found that my druid was pretty much naked. I don't like the "new" models much anyway but have to keep wood elves on so that I can use my leezurd mount. Of all the races/classes in all of EQ, the woodelf is the one that truly wins the MOST UGLY for appearance and armor. Oh well... fortunately there are no mirrors in the game of EQ :D

if you need to find a way to reduce raid lag a bit, add the /dopropertinting off to your list of options to turn off... or if you're 2-3 boxing, etc... every little bit helps.

cackles!

hehe its weird peoples perceptions i guess.

I think with it off the toons look totally stupid I mean who has the same coloured skin as their armour lol.

The detail on some of the toons is really nice too.

Eep! I say eep!

All this while I had /dopropertinting turned off. My druidess looked to me like a ninja, fully clad in black from head to toe. If I had a means to add a white cowl over her head she would look like a chaste nun.

Strangers has been sending tells to me saying how wonderful my druidess looked. I had always assumed they had a thing for female ninjas or nuns or something like that.

Today for the first time in months, I turned on tinting. My jaws dropped as I spied not a ninja or a nun clad in chaste black, but a wonton harlot in sexy figure hugging black leather with revealing middriffs and deep neckline.

I immediately bought 7 vials of prismatic dyes.

The first druid pic looks way better, Romidar. If you're happy with the body suit and turtleneck look, tho, go for it ;)...

It's so 1960's. Reminds me of Dr. Smith on Lost in Space though.

The little cut outs on his sides just give me the heebie jeebies. I hate to admit to any homophobia or anything but... ick! I'd much rather have the Space 1999 look. ;)

Now a female druid in the tight black skin suit sounds more my cup of tea. :crazeye:

Sounds like most female druids. And some male wood elves, for that matter....:P

I still remember back in Luclin (when they played with the texture files some) being in for a graphical surprise.

First I noticed there was a great texture on my otherwise bland mainhand weapon (Ishinaer Xiall, it looks like a long wooden poking stick) that made it black marble in appearance. Nice said I!

Then I began to see some other odd but interesting changes... a few here and there but nothing shocking. Did I mention shocking? Yeah, shocking was zoning into Alice-in-Wonderland that was a number of the Luclin zones at the time. Massive day-glo mushroom-trees and Floyd-inspired vistas were everywhere. Bah, it turned out to be a glitch and the old spear was plain wood with the cache purged...

I was reminded of the old cat-box wallpaper days though, if any recall that set of graphic glitches.

You had to know Scirocco would post in a thread about leather clad females...
