From the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3209223.stm):

Actor Jim Caviezel has been struck by lightning while playing Jesus in Mel Gibson's controversial film The Passion Of Christ.
The lightning bolt hit Caviezel and the film's assistant director Jan Michelini while they were filming in a remote location a few hours from Rome.

It was the second time Michelini had been hit by lightning during the shoot.

I don't know how religious this guy is... but if I was strike by lightning while playing Jesus.. I'd get a new career.

He's been struck twice already while working on this film. I don't know how God works, but you know what they say about three strikes.

Mel Gibson tells Jim Caviezel "I don't care if you get struck by lightning a million times... That 10 foot solid Iron Halo on your head looks perfect and you WILL wear it!"

He really should play the lottery. :)

Moral of the story?

Don't star in a film filled with the hateful rhetoric that Jews killed Jesus. Adonai don't play that!

I heard about this today while listening to Rush Limbaugh's show (Matt Drudge is filling in for him while he's in rehab). No, I don't normally listen to the show, but I was about 6 hours into a 12 hour car drive, and I had to listen to talk radio at that point to stay awake (northern Arizona is not exactly exciting). This sounds absolutely crazy. But yeah, he wasn't even HURT (bad)! It might sound like a thumbs down from the big man upstairs at first, but when you take a closer look, it seems more like two thumbs up!

Either way, that movie is having all kinds of problems. People in Europe are showing absolutely no desire to see it, and Gibson can't get an American company to distribute it, so he is having to use his own money (not cheap, at all). Read more about it if you're interested, but it is apparently very controversial. Something about anti-semitism or something. I don't know for sure why, because I could care less. Mel Gibson has always bugged me. ;)

Eek, freaky happenings afoot there it seems! Anywho, I remember reading a while ago Caviezel was actually a deeply religious guy etc etc, wonder what he would make of that! ;)
