My christmas gift to myself. I can toss this pos out the window finally and build a new comp with all the OT Im geting from working in Toy Retail. There's a really awsome site out there for ordering computer componets that basically sale through the manufacturer and sell it back to you at a lower cost then most privately or corporate owned retailers it's just my memory has failed me yet again and I cant remember what its called. Im very skeptical of ordering online but hey, im exteremly cheap. If anyone knows a site I can trust that allows you to use paypal and is US Based that would be sweet. Right now im running on a Celeron 700mhz 383mb ram. Geforce 4 64mb (pc100 not the TI). The only good thing I have is my 48x CD burner. OH yeah ive heard rummors of the next pentium coming out to be 4ghz. Anyone know when this is coming out or if it's false? Thanks for any info you have.

Some reputable online retailers:

<a href=http://www.newegg.com/>www.newegg.com</a> (the best!)
<a href=http://www.mwave.com/>www.mwave.com</a>
<a href=http://www.googlegear.com/>www.googlegear.com</a>

You can either buy components, or systems they build you from the components.

ok Kalest, I presume you're from the US? i'm not so I might be wrong here.

newegg.com seems good, I see a lot of people talk about that - I think "BestBuy" is also not bad for computer components.

Have you ever built a computer before, are you able to do it?

What do you have intended for this computer, what is your budget, how long does it need to last?

Any specific requirements, e.g. television card?

What software are you going to want?

As for the P4, yes, the Prescott will be coming out at the beginning of next year (February), it's a new processor but still a P4, it's not THAT different to warrant a P5 title. Speeds start a 3.4ghz, it'll probably be a little while before 4ghz processors are available, according to Intel's roadmap, pricecuts are due February aswell, most likely due to new processors being released.

I'll try to keep up with this thread.
