Help us Test "The Fallen"
Please help us with testing the new server rule-set for "The Fallen". If you would like to help test this exciting new concept, please patch to EverQuest using Testeverquest.exe, which you can find in your Everquest directory. Once patched, select "The Fallen" from the server directory and you are in. Here is the proposed rule-set for this server;

- Any character that is slain for any reason what so ever will be reset and placed back into newbie status. Characters will not be restored or resurrected for ANY reason what so ever. Once you're dead, you're dead.

- Each account will only be allowed one character on this server. Any PvP death results in the killing player obtaining a number of points based on the levels of the characters involved. Players can only gain points from characters that are within 5 levels of them.

- You may loot all tradeable items from the corpse of the character you just killed, all other equipment is destroyed with the character.

- The server will make use of the Firiona Vie no drop rules (few things will be No-Drop)

- The server will have the old world (Antonica, Faydwer, Odus) plus the Legacy of Ykesha expansion , and will only allow characters to reach level 50 with no AA.

- The server will have a doubled experience modifier to facilitate faster paced gameplay.

- Players will not be able to turn on /anonymous or /roleplay to hide their current location.

Help us out and let us know what you think. You can use the Submit Comment link on the Dev Corner to send us your feedback and ideas.

Thanks for your help and I hope you enjoy "The Fallen"

Wow, cool. But it would definitely suck to die at lvl 50.

Interesting, a server that actually encourages you not to level. Who would bother going to level 50, when there will be few people you can kill, and where a single mistake will cost you all of your work? I envision a lot of newbies [edit: mostly druids] with no gear running around killing one another like a poor man's Quake.

To improve the concept, they either need to make it drastically easier to level 50 by removing the exponentially increasing amount of effort per level, or give you far more points for killing a higher-leveled characer.

Interesting. I certainly wouldn't want to start over late in the game though.

Heh, that looks stupid...

God forbid you should go LD.

I think the concept is pretty cool! The penalty is too harsh though. They should make death penalty a scale:

--------------------------------------------------
Levels 1 - 10: Lose a level
Levels 11 - 20: Lose 2 Levels
Levels 21 - 30: Lose 3 Levels
Levels 31 - 40: Lose 4 Levels
Levels 41 - 50: Lose 5 Levels

Plus, you should be able to keep any banked gear (still lose all gear on your corpse).

Plus, they should make mobs drop their entire loot table every time they are killed. After all, items are gonna be decaying hella fast.

Plus, they should have current "rare" spawns spawn every time, no placeholders.

Plus, boss mobs should spawn faster, nothing greater then 24 hours.

Heh, imagine zoning and getting that falling bug from zoning on top of someone else, where you end up taking 20k damage...

They couldn't think up a new Zek this time? *grin*

Hmmm, no thanks. Only old world (plus LoY) and limited to level 50 with no aa is interesting for those who long for the old days. But PvP and perma death hold no interest for me.

Always nice to have options in the games though and if this is something that is interesting to some EQ players, then more power to them. Nice to see them trying to make additions for some to enjoy.

Theres a few things not mentioned here according to Rytan. The servers only going to run for about a month at which time it will be reset and the winners in that month will have a special item named after them and be able to move their char to any other server FoC.

Lol somewhat amusing.

Its everquest meets counterstrike.

'druid down druid down, taking fire, need assistance'
'negative'

I like the idea. I wonder what use the ress spells will be on this server though? Now the question is...Do I want a Bard or Necro to screw with people on? :)

Hmm, Are they counting the highest level characters as winners or people who don't die? Get to a location where very little people could get to and hiding would be too easy.

Levels 1 - 10: Lose a level
Levels 11 - 20: Lose 2 Levels
Levels 21 - 30: Lose 3 Levels
Levels 31 - 40: Lose 4 Levels
Levels 41 - 50: Lose 5 Levels

Actually make it simple...you lose half of whatever level you are.

so at 50 you go to level 25.....at 30 level 15.

Thats only half of what you lose then.....and yes losing it all means its going to be mainly a perma newbie server which seems silly.

It may welll be a server full of bards, because they are hard to kill and druids because 1-9 they will just kite everyone.

You just know there's going to be a group of people who powerlevel through some quest exploit and get up to 15 the first day, then just sit and camp in the newbie areas slaughtering the sheep there. It's like people who used to camp the Quad powerup in Quake :)

As mentioned above, but the exact quote.

Couple things that aren't mentioned on that page:

-The server's only going to be up for roughly a month.
-There's going to be an item named after the winners (up to 6)
-If you win you get to transfer your character to any server you so choose for free.
-After one month the server is being wiped and likely started over again.

I would so play this if I wasn't going back to Seattle for Christmas.

I think it actually sounds kinda fun.

Nickname it "The Bard" server, though.

That sounds... ridiculous!

Still, time will tell. Personally I think at best it'll be a ****** magnet (which is fine, cleans up the other servers!)

This is the worse server ever. I went on it and with 50 million druids it was practically a Green House Gathering. The system itself sucks because you go back to level one once you die and then have to work your way up to level 6 before you can PvP again. I think they should change it from 6 to 2 on this server because of it's purpose. Also, Your skills go back to beginning stat and any spells you've purchased go Poof. Imagine the frustration of dying after you've gained enough money for all of your level 1 spells only to die losing it all. They need to at least put the PvP level at 2 if you're going to have hard work fanish. There was a level 11 Druid hanging out in Misty thicket named Wuotan as well and being the biggest bastard ever. He was just training people over and over again with mobs killing them and if they were 6 or above he'd root them and train them because that'd give him a better chance. It didn't give him any player kill points or anything he just didn't want anyone to get higher than he was (11 was the highest but that was a few hours ago) the need to tweak some things and the $%^%$%^%$%^%$%^%$%^%$%^%$%^%s need to die. VERY bad playout of a nice idea IMO. It takes you forever to finally get back up where you are able to engage in PvP with the added chance of losing it all before you kill someone due to mobs. Another problem with a system is that your corpse is locked if a mob kills you. This means that you can still have all your items, but at newbie levels it means that you can double up on newbie items and get your newbie note over again (two tunics; lore but sell one). The system is wonky and should've been tested by the people who created it before they released it for players to mess with.

BTW, EXP Doubled? My Ass. I level EXACTLY the same on my Fallen character as I do a lower level character on Bristlebane.

I saw way too many necros, and not as many druids and bards as I thought i would.

Hmm, I wonder if zones like cazic and the hole will be the revamped versions...

Would be neat to go visit the mid-30's version of cazic again. :P

Hehe its a TEST server.. theyre releasing it for you to test. XP needs to be increased to about 5x normal imo or changed to be extremely high to start and then scale down more dramatically as you increase in level.

Oryane

Actually, Telaman, If what I read earlier is correct it is staying there and will be deleted at the end of the month where a certain number of players with the most kill points wins something. Don't know if it's true, but sounds true considering other expansions aren't on it an you can only go to level 50. If it is though it'd imply that it is technically live.

Telaman
12-17-2003, 09:27 PM
It is true, it was my post and the info came from Rytan (an eq developer) but it was my view that this would occur once/if the server went live.

Oryane
12-17-2003, 09:28 PM
The server IS as live as it will get. They aren't going to put it with the live servers just to remove it from the end of the month.

:moon:

Yeah.. I tried out this server with a druid and a mage combo. Well I made it to about level 9 on both of them at which point I realised that not only did I have jack for gear but there was no way in hell I was gonna get the 5 platish per spell for my level 8-9 spells .. So I think to myself, man there's gotta be a way.. this was about the time my damn Mage died =/

Anyhoo.. they nerfed the whole Plague rat tail ~ pp farming.. you get like 2 gold now. So I thought I was like super clever in running my arse all the way to gunthak to try a lil fishing .. netting me 8 gold for the better catches. Well I had 0 skill so it was gonna be a bit. By the time my skill was up to about 35-40, I was just starting to make it worth while. At this point being the only one in the zone for a good hour or so I go afk fer a couple minutes and some peckerhead necro kills me while afk .. Yeah I know it was pvp and I should know better but that was just cheap =P

At this point I was disgusted cause I blew about say 10 hours getting my skills up, leveling fishing etc and I realised just how stupid this server really is.. (And I am for playing on it =/) what would make it better is getting to keep your skills and spells, Just not be able to have full use of them untill you get back up to the right level to use them again. Also the bank could be used to save gear for your next leveling up process. Oh ... and I never killed or tried to kill anyone which is the whole point of the server. :wstupid:
