Regarding: Thread "Tangled Web...."

lol...wow. Well, Wyte started the thread which was a good conversation and then went over to the eqcleric and did a post inviting clerics to comment on eqdruid grove on this subject and all Hades broke loose. A lot of good info came out, but we're stuck in a pool of sticky ooze.

Can we just agree that Clerics are clerics and druids are druids and their healing spells are balanced right now? NO...NM don't answer that...don't want to start another 30+page thread. PEACE.

Clerics suck. All they can do is rez and CH and think they're cool because they have DA and better armor. But us Dwuids are sexier! And that means more females for the haren!

Or males, if you're into that sort of thing (I heard clerics were...)

Ok, this post IS JUST A JOKE! So don't get all pissy about it whoever, ok?
thx

The ONLY problem I have , is i would like some sort of group heal spell, for raid situations.

Other then that, I think I can heal someone fine in MOST situations.

Definitely agree here. Other than a group heal, I have the all tools to be main healer, albeit not as good as a cleric, but I am not a cleric ;)

Just say no to EXP nights. That's all I want. If that means I have to be in the CH rot (which I am anyways, drat), then so be it!

The sense of accomplishment from pushing forward in content is why I still play this game. That feeling I got when I zoned into PoTime the first time, etc.

My thread tried (I hope) to bring to light the horrible (in my opinion) trend in EQ. That trend being: more HP items, more mob damage, bigger dependence on the CH rot. Every expansion focuses boss mobs on CH to varying extents. And how can they not? It's the most efficient way to fight a mob from a mana perspective.

Is it a huge problem right now? I don't think so. Guilds are still progessing even though we are having these discussions. People won't stop because someone is having a conversation on the sidelines.

Will it be a huge problem in the future? Maybe, maybe not, but I don't think the game will be getting better with the rot in place.

The solution... I'm not so sure about that one, although I have opinions. Personally I think we have to move away from CH completely. It wouldn't be a huge hit on Druids, but what of Clerics? They are so centered around it. I tihnk mob damage should continue to scale with Tank HP's, but top-end heals should cost waaaay more mana then CH. This would necessitate shorter fights, with more tricks up the sleeves of the mob (or multiple mob) boss encounters.

You know, really, the possibilities are endless (given enough programming time - which, okay yeah, is in finite supply).

They could:
- Allow boss mobs to mass summon.
- For multi-mob encounters: Tie hate tables of mobs to one-another. So, 3 boss mobs can't be split by any means; they all have to be taken simultaneously. One mob could say "lemme have a try at that tank" and summon the tank from a different boss, no matter how far away in the zone.
- They could implement boss AI seperate from trash AI (right now it kinda sucks).
- They could have encounter based heavily toward damage versus the traditional healing. Why make raids Cleric-centric? Say, 1 billion HP's, and hits in the 100's, with a time limit on the encounter. Give classes bane options so that they contribute: like bane damage shields, bane spells, bane dots, bane cleric hammers, bane this bane that. Or make caster/melee groups bind together in combinations to increase power.
- They could make it so that archtypes have innate abilities on encounters, maybe somewhat at random, so that a balance of classes is required. One time Rogues/Monks may have the uber ability, the next time Mages/Wizards.

My point is, this trend sucks rocks, IMO. It's going nowhere but downhill; it's old. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the game, but I think it could be sooo much better then slap in a new mob model, increase the damage, set up CH rot.

And yes, if SOE is going to continue on the "tried and true" trend, Druids will need bigger heals in the future, approaching or equaling the current Cleric CH.

I will agree.

/smile

Seriously.
That sleeper of a thread has been great, but I hope that the posters from the other boards do not make the falacious assumption that some druid views expressed in it, are by any means Druid views.

Ill equiped people seem to always have the habit of going back to their respective communities and going "Can you believe those druids, they want X?"

that post was made half in jest since i know there was no way SOE was going to lower bosses damage output....

hell, if they keep going the way they are, clerics are going to need a 12k heal for it to be a true CH....

i would love to get away form the CH rot, honestly i would.. not because of the burden or stress or anything.. but i have been doing CH rots for over 2 years... it has, in fact trivialized EVERY encounter except Coirnav... give me enough healers (clerics AND druids) and if everyone in the rot can hit the button at the right time, mob will die, simple as that....

Coir is the one true event that you can't use a rot on, other than.. well, those that have done it know what i mean..... that encounter truely gets my pulse racing.. although i wish it was back to the 18 min timer :p

i would prefer more dynamic fights where we clerics can show you druid what healing mastery really means (friendly poke at druids to try and lighten things up) :p

Absolutely not. Sure... you don't want to start another 30+ plus thread
then why the hell would you make such a comment.

Heh try any of these on for taste:

Can we just agree that Warriors are warriors and knights are knights and their tanking abilitys are balanced right now?

Can we just agree that monks are monks and bards are bards and their pulling abilities are balanced right now?

Can we just agree that pure melees are pure melees and hybrids are hybrids and their abilities are balanced right now?

Like 30 pages is a drop in the bucket compared to 100s of pages on any of those looking at any of the other boards.
