Oh man... that is so cold. I remember when I was applying for grad school at Yale as a music major. I was one of the first to audition for the day so I wanted to get there early. I left my hotel trudged to the school in -9 weather and it was closed! I had to wander around New Haven for a long time with my hands freezing off and my instrument getting obscenely cold. I was SO cold. And of course, being from So. CA I never, ever dressed appropriately for the cold. Hey, it's sunny out, must not be cold!

How cold is it typically at the artic?

From a simple google search in 2001 it hit -80 in the month of January, "North Pole".

But..

CAMPAIGNS CARRY ON IN FRIGID NEW HAMPSHIRE

The eye-watering freeze kept the streets of Manchester, New Hampshire, largely pedestrian-free on Thursday, but politicians still campaigned for the state's first-in-the-nation presidential primary election on Jan. 27.

Our local weather guy was talking about the cold weather on the east coast. Apparently the Mars rover sent back weather data...yesterday it was a balmy +5 degrees F on Mars. Pretty bad when it's warmer on planets further from the sun than you are.

/comfort and layers of polypro to all you east coasters.
