Can someone direct me to a good soloing guide for Plane of Tactics? If there isn't one can we discuss it here. I am fairly new to zone but would like to see if I can get in here and leave with my leather bracer patterns. I know an enchanter can do this. Do we have the same option?

Thank you in advance.

No, we can't sploit the stuff a chanter can in tactics.

Allmine...

I heard it's possible for a Druid to do some soloing in PoTac. It's just very VERY dangerous. You can try to charm the War Boars down in the pit with CoK.....

But from my own personal experience it's really deadly down there alone. The Wraiths see invis and wander as do ALL the mobs in the pit. There are maybe two spots that are meager at being safe spots to pull to. There's no room to kite since the pit is such close quarters. Snare lands about 30% of the time on the first cast. And root... HAH! It wears off so fast that root/rot is imossible. And the mobs are just freakin MEAN. Mobs hit for 500+ on average and have insane amounts of HPs. And the only quick way out is via Exodus, a lucky cast of Evac/Gate or simply DEATH.

Kudos to those that are able to do this - you got some big ol' brass ones.

First, none of the war boars in the pit are charmable with CoT.

Second, nothing in the zone is charmable with CoK other than the rarish dc pets.

Druids can solo in tactics you just can't be scared of getting hit for an odd 500. Go in first with full group and see what you can charm then try it solo another time. The stampeding piglet doesn't summon and he's soloable but it's usually close tight work and you need to know what you're doing. He's always overcamped and drops the shield or saber every time so don't get too excited.

I use to solo / duo in tactics all the time before I became EP flagged.

Just takes patience to break the room and start charming.

Best camp you can do solo is the piggy camp, he's a random spawn.. not a PH.. the stampede just randomly starts. He can rarely drop ornate, anything but legs/bp, so uh, good luck with getting a leather bracer.

I have never once heard, nor seen, the piglet drop ANY ornate. His drop list to my knowledge is: Tactician's Bulwark, War Crested Ring, Blood Earing thingy, Adjutant's Sabre, and Spec's.

You could zone into tactics whenever you have a free minute, and track for the enraged war boar, or zelrin morlok, both who are soloable by druids... (enraged war boar drops the bracer I believe)

Listed in comments there that he drops plate boots at least.
A friend has gotten a few pieces of ornate off him, though it was months ago when he last camped him, and it's EXCEEDINGLY rare to get ornate, let alone the one peice you're looking for. But of course, you can sell any other drops to fund your ornate. I've never personally bothered with the piggy, and only killed like 3 times when I happened to snag it.

[Edit] Nevermind, misread comments *shrugs* The second part still stands, even if he no longer drops ornate, you can use the other drops to buy what you need.

Can charm the boars in the pens but they're not really worth it because of their small HPs. Unless you're duoing with a shaman.

2 Methods of Soloing in here for the druids with big brass ones as someone put it.

1) Clanging room - Outside this room are lots of ogres, you can either single pull them into the clanging room where you teach them about druids being the stronger than Rallos Zek. I can either single pull any of them (which I highly recommend with death knights or oracles) Or quadkite them, (non casters only of course) The clanging room has no natural spawns or wandering mobs so its safe.

2) Aggrokiting just outside the pigpen. This is a tricky one due to the first pull being 2 mobs, there being 2 mobs in the room, and wanderers through the middle of the room.

My spell setup is a variant of snare / root / hand of ro / summers flame / immolation of ro/ natures infusion / fury of magic (I think thats the stun) / and Command of Tunare.

When you go in the south tunnel to the pigpen area, go through the tunnel and turn to the right, go into the corner there, thats one of two safe corners. Directly across the room is the other safe corner. As you look left and right, you see mobs, you have to run from corner to corner with those mobs in the room on your first pull so they don't aggro.

Looking in the pigpen, I pull towards the safe corner area with either glamour of tunare or snare depending on how I feel that day. I then run to the far corner and snare the add. Thats right, I plan on the add, after snaring him, I stun him so I can run back to the other corner without him beating me. (The second pig gets free shots)

Charm the first pig now.

You can then target the second pig, and run cross corner stunning him to sneak by. Use immolation of Ro, hand of ro and the stun to keep aggro on you, and off your pet. your pet will get 4 to 6 swings in at each corner doing almost as much as summers flame would do by itself each pass.

Be watchful for adds and be sure to snare them, and stun them once to ensure they are aggro'd hard on you. Snare will aggro them on you, but they will get your pet at one end of the kite or the other, and a dead pet = lost exp. You can't pull aggro off the pet without using invis once he has aggro.

I would say in order to do this, you need around 4k hp unbuffed, LR5, Innate camo or your just gonna get your ass handed to you.

Some of you people are getting two pigs mixed up.
There is one pig that spawns in the pit thats named. That one drops ornate.
There is teh piglet that always comes at the end of the stampede script.
This one does not drop ornate. I'd like a screenshot to prove otherwise.

Ps. the pigs druids can charm are in the kennel and they changed the spawns patterns in that room to make it extremely hard to charm solo for druids there.

What changed about the spawn patterns? I haven't been there in a few months...

Tactics is cake once you get the hang of it. There is at least 2 places that I know of that you can agro kite with little danger and a few that is very dangerous. Using http://www.eqatlas.com/planes/fortressofzekmap.html for reference.

When you zone in you should be facing a long hallway that leads to the pit. Invs up,

Safe:

1) Cross the first 4 way and there is a room with no spawns on the right (marked with a “(z)” that you can single root/rot. This is a slow and boring camp

2) Continue down that hall past the “(z)” room, you come to the Pit. Kinda hard to miss, big hole and all. Turn to the left and go to the straight there is a large room with no spawns. This is a popular kite’n room. It is very easy to snare pull mobs into this room. You can single kite or quad depending on your mana pool or if you get a few peeps together group quad.

Not so Safe:

1) Starting back at the zone in, go straight to the pit and make a right. There is a room with two spawns that is not hard to kite/quad. This room is a little dangerous as you will need to watch the two spawn points for pops while kite’n (rot’n) as well as the stair for the roamer. I usually pull both the spawns, the roamer and another from the stairs and quad to clear the room. Do not try to quad the wraiths, they are casters and will cause problems. If a wraith is on the stairs or is the roamer just pull from out side the room and stay close to the wall far from the stairs (agro range is a joke here).

2) Back to zone in, make sure you have lev and inv up (got to love FoE) and go straight to the Pit and jump in. I usually head to the left corner opposite of the zone out. Keep in mind where that zone out is, you will probably use it a lot getting use to the place. In the pit Boars, Gladiators, Knights of Zek will not see inv, the Wraiths, Tortured Souls, Frenzied Initiate will see inv. I do not remember if the Enraged War Boar will see inv or not. Pick a corner grab a mob and root/rot. The Zeks will assist the Zeks, the pigs will assist the boars, Wraiths and Tortured Souls will assist each other but boars will not assist a Zek, wraith or tortured soul, a wraith will not assist a boar or a Zek. If a mob you think will add on you or get close (keep in mind the ridiculously short agro range) then toss a Storms Fury at the mob to break root and move him against the wall away from the add. Usually I only kill named in the pit and not xp, takes more time positioning mobs then its worth.

Now we are roll’n:

1) Piggies room is an awesome camp for druids and necros. In the pit, on the wall opposite of the zone out there is two hallways. The hall way to the right (from looking at the wall when the zone out stone to your back) leads to piggies room. There are two static spawns and one roamer in this room. Ignore the spawns and the roamer and park yourself in a corner with no spawn. The agro range is short enough that you can root/dot piggie whith all three mobs up and have no agro troubles. An event called the stamped starts in this room. A lot, and I mean a lot of Stampeding Boars spawn in 2-4 groups, usually less then a second of each other, all very close to one long train. In that long train is one small Stampeding Piglet. The train will run from that room out to the pit turn left, follow the wall, turn left again go in the other hall, turn left down the hall back to where it all started in piggies room. The goal is to root piggie on his way to the pit after he spawns. You may get another chance when the train comes back to piggies room but unless you are the only one in zone I wouldn’t count on it. Some things to remember, do not stand in front of the Stampeding boars, they will run you over doing usually 500 damage x 8-15 to you and you will die. Remain invisible as much as possible, try to keep a good distance away from them, more then you would give bout any other mob in the zone and always be ready to evac. I have seen a few times where I would root piggie and the Stampeding Boars will bounce of piggie and agro on me. You can use snare to tag piggy, and this works to slow him down till the boars pass and then root. What ever works for you. Dot piggie and take his loot. I am not sure on piggies spawn timer, it seems to be one hours and 15 minutes +/- 20 minutes but that is a guess.

2) Piggies room part two, other then piggie there are lots of mobs down their wait’n to earn you lots of xp. You can root/rot mobs but that takes forever, Charm is king here. Entering piggies room, with the pit to your back go to the far left corner. Again ignore the two/three spawns/roamer in the room. Load up charm and edge over till you can see the two boars in the pin, A war Boar, A Diaku Boar or A Boar Beast (not sure if the Boar Beast is a suppose to spawn here or a glitch when it does) You are looking into the pig pens, there are a few diaku roamers that come up to the door way, stop for a look and then turn around and go back. If a roamer is at the door just wait a few and it will go back. When there is not a roamer at the door, target one of the boars in the pen and charm it, don’t bother with snare, don’t bother with GoT, just charm it and let them both come at you. If your charm lasted, ohhh 1/1000 of a second just run you’re a$$ to the zone out stone in the pit. I don’t bother to inv just run real fast through the least amount of mobs that I can, with FoE you shouldn’t have a problem, with FoE and innate camo its very easy to make the run as almost nothing will assist. If charm lasts a few the boars will both run at you, you can click on the non charmed and /pet attack or let the non charmed one hit you once back up and they should be kill’n each other. Snare the non-charmed one, maybe root depending on how you feel. If you do not think your charm will last root, if ya feel good bout charm just snare. Now if charm breaks the rooted and/or snared one will be waiting for you when you zone out and come back by him self, then you can GoT snare and recharm. If charm does not break kill the non-charmed boar and have your pet attack one of the static spawns or the roamer. It may seem kinda wired but I have played with two boars (at times not charmed) with the roomer standing in the midle of the room, the two static spawns and a roamer from the pig pin standing at the door just watching me kill stuff, like I said the agro range is ridiculously small here, play with it and get to know exactly how close you can get (exodus helps a lot here). After this is done, piggies room should be broken .If you are good on mana and board off you’re a$$ wait’n on piggie you can start to clear down the halls. Get to know that hall and how far you can push clearing. Charm will break count on it. Keep at lest one mob, usually the diaku/wraith, snared for when charm breaks. Try to keep your pet snared, I am too lazy to break charm to resnare and I do die from that time to time but I almost always walk out with over a couple AA then when I walked in. If ya get to know your agro range and have good control over your pet you can ckear and kill the supplier and Armour, it’s a pain, its not easy but its doable.

I figure the Supplier, Armour, Glykus and the war is out of scope for this so passing on that for now. If ya see anything that looks out of place or have a question let me know.

PoTactics IMO is one of the most fun, druid loving zones that has been put out sense kunark was around. Ohh, if it cons red, don’t mess with it. Have fun!!

Assuming none of the changes to spawn patterns apply to my experience:
I prefer to use a 1 minute root to split a charmable boar from a pair. I root the one I don't want to charm, causing one to charge at me immediately. I root it just before it gets to me, ensnare it, ensnare and refresh root on the first boar, then glamour/charm my pet. Root wears off on the first boar, and I kill it with my charmed pet, running diagonally through the room if needed (and hoping there aren't any wanderers). I prefer this method mostly because of the -30 resist modifiers on roots.

After that I usually plow north, either settling in the big room north of the armorer, or continuing further until something goes wrong. :) If I run low on mana I try to aggro kite, otherwise I usually just let my pet tank and keep it healed.

I haven't done this in a few months though, so things may have changed...

There's plenty of ways to do this. I used aoe roots.
