I am having some big problems with this whole new EQ2 thing, I don't know wether it is a whole new game or just another expansion?

I have devoted 3years of my life to being a druid on Everquest, and it would really tick me off if all of a sudden they came out with a whole new game...

Could someone just tell me now if it is a new game or an expansion so I can either become happy or be filled with a rage like no other.

thx, Dimwitty

P.S. I am new to the board's this is my first post, hi everyone :)

Brand new game, no tie with the old other than sort of a storyline. Just like Asheron's Call and Asheron's Call 2.

They were talking about letting you make your characters be descendants of your EQ characters (no char transfers of course). Probably...probably that just meant you could use hte same name you used in EQ though ; ).

Thx for your replys though :)

Why the hell would they want to do better expansions for a game which doesn't even exist yet but allow @#%$ expansions for a game thousands of us already pay for?

I've already explained why game dev studios and their publishers want to expand a product line. Seriously, you guys are disappointing me here.

Supply and demand, the market, MONEY. It's about making money. That's what companies do. You work to make money to support yourself and your family. You work for companies that make money and want to keep making MONEY.

If you don't want to play EQ2, then don't buy it and don't subscribe to it. Stay in EQ1. Or find another game. Or give up on MMORPGs and find a new pastime.

Bitching about the development of a new game is utterly ridiculous: You may as well bitch at any random game developer for creating a new game.

And right now, our economy NEEDS to grow. It is in sad shape indeed, and we need more jobs and more stability. PERIOD.

Spending money (disposable income) helps the economy! I'm not saying go into credit debt. Nope. I'm saying if you suddenly stop going out like you used to, and if everyone is hoarding, then businesses lose money and the next thing you know, people are getting laid off. Why? Because companies want to cut costs/losses -- again, it's about money. A lot of companies aren't even thinking about profit margins; they're struggling to get out of the red. Huge quarterly losses.

If you don't like SOE's business practices, go to the Better Business Bureau online and file a complaint. :)

But the issue of the existence of a new game whether it's EQ2 or PlanetSide is NO reason to bitch. Sorry, but c'est la vie.
