So I am looking for information on the 'net, and a popup shows up saying "If your computer is running slowly, it may be infected with Adaware. Click 'yes' to scan and delete this."

WTF? Uh, yeah, I do have Adaware on my computer. I WANT it there precisely because of idiotic popups like that!

It's frightening to me how many people wouldn't read the box completely and would click "yes".

And on the same general subject, Gator is teh suxxor!

Adware = evil
Adaware = good

Probably misread the ad..
But it amazes me how many popups are actually advertising popup blockers /boggle

Popups advertising popup blockers is genius marketing.

Recent studies have shown that internet advertising gives the most bang-for-the buck for advertisers. Popups are annoying, but don't expect them to go away. Unless you have a popup blocker you're going to get them. Adware just adds to the problem.

I don't use a popup blocker because some of the webpages I frequent have useful popups and it is annoying to have to program your popup blocker to not block some but block others. Because I regularly clean my computer of adware programs I don't find them overly annoying.

"Popups advertising popup blockers is genius marketing."

I was wondering today, how much Microsoft charges the spammers, spyware, and trojan makers to keep that stuff in its software?

It is no accident. IE does what it does on purpose. I just wonder why we as users have not told M$ to get rid of the crap, yet.

There should be no need for popup blockers in the first place.

Firefox, dude. You can allow/disallow pop-ups, cookies, and more site by site. I love the tabbed browsing as well.
