Well, I've been searching around lately for a reason as to why I can't get my target ring to show, but only to end with no luck. So this is where you guys come in!

I've tried deleting my UI folder, re-installing EQ, and changing UIs only to have nothing work. The Default UI doesn't even show the ring. /boggle

I thought I read something somewhere on some website (that's alot of "somes"!) that the Target ring doesn't work with some video cards. But unfortunately, I have no idea where this link is now and I have no idea what my graphics card is or how to check which one I have.

Hopefully some of you could can help me with my dilema. :)

There si a problem where EQ forcibly disables hardware TNL on some cards that actually support (A pretty wide range of ATI cards have had this problem) There has been endless discussion about it on SoEs support board, with little or no substanative response.

I am holding out for the new engine fixing this problem, but I am probally dreaming.

Hit Start --> Run --> type in the box: Dxdiag --> okay

Might ask you a yes or no question .. Hit Yes..

Then click on the tab that says Display:

Copy under the Device and Drive Box and post it here.

RV100 is the 7000 series I believe. Which I do not believe supports HW T&L which may explain the problem.

On a side note, your driver seems a little old, you may need to upgrade it for proper DirectX 9 support. Then of course you will also need to upgrade to Direct X 9.

I am not sure if either of those things will help with your target ring (I did manage to get the ring Working on a 7500 series AIW card somehow). They will however allow you to continue playing when they make DX9 a requirement.

Yea that driver is old - is 7000 even a Radeon series driver?

If it is its a simple download on www.ati.com

As for Direct X 9 I would install it through windows update and if its not listed there then go to www.microsoft.com/directx - Home user

Also I seen a couple people running around with hacked versions of XP Pro corporate.. if its not rehacked with a new key then your not going to be able to get SP1 .. you need SP1 for a lot of newer drivers. Best to just go buy a legit copy, I have seen OEM versions down to 50 bucks in the past.

A little update. The core of the new DirectX 9 engine on Test makes the target ring work on the 3 pcs here where it did not (Mobility 9000, 9600 and Mobility 7500).
