My system with Windows ME gives the message:

"We hope you enjoy playing Everquest today! Don't forget to upgrade to DirectX 9.0 soon!" I get that message when I start the game and when I camp for the night.

My system that has Windows XP does not give that message. Both have DirectX 9.0b installed.

I ran testeverquest on the ME system (got the same message) but it ran ok. So DirectX is working.

Anyone else with DirectX 9.0b and Win ME being bugged to install it even though it is installed and functioning? :behindcom

It was bugging me on my XP system with 9.0b installed for a while. Then one day it stopped. I had made no changes....

I always had to hit alt enter 2 times in order to get out of windowed mode. I am not sure if it is the same problem as yours but you may want to try alt enter more than once.

I thought that was just a dumb pop up that everyone got. I say "dumb" because obviously it isn't smart enough to figure 1) I HAVE DX9 installed and 2) it needs to GO AWAY after bugging me a time or two.

/sigh I miss only having to hit enter a few times. Now you have to sit at the keyboard when logging on *just* to hit enter over and over.

I got this for about a month on a new account I started using, but not on the old account. Maybe its a PR thing for newcomers?

it goes away on xp systems, but not on 98 systems, no big deal.

Oh well, at least I'm not the only one with the problem.

After having played FFXI for a couple months (and cancelled), an extra Enter doesnt really phase me. Honestly that game has the most horrible clunky logon process I've ever seen 8P

Got it first time when I reinstalled EQ. But never since. :)

Upgraded the PC mentioned above from Win98 to XP Pro, this repeatative message is now gone.
