It is amazing to me that some folks look down on Panamah and his Flag rebellion and yet they believe that twinking and powerleveling and other things they do are okay.

Their arguments are generally twofold

1. Encounter wasn't designed to have X (how many X is) people attempting it.

Were the kobolds in AK'Anon designed to be fought by lvl 1's with a 9/19 weapon, 400+ hp from buffs, AC in the 100+ (if not more) range and 30ish point damage shield?

2. The encounter wasn't fought the way that Guild A fought it therefore it is exploiting and cheating.

Is Naggy still fought by lvl 50 and below by folks carrying SSOY and wearing plate mail?
---------
Was VT encounters designed for characters who were lvl 65 or lvl 60?
Yet how many guilds have folks over lvl 60 raiding in VT?

How many folks have logged in a guildmate to get him flagged? Had someone log them in to get their character flagged or use their character for an event? That is directly against the EULA that SOE specifies everytime we play.

How many folks have logged in an alt that didnt participate in a flagging event to get the alt flagged? Is that SOE's intent with the flagging encounters?

These are just a few of the examples of the duality of some people. Was it the designer's intent to have folks get to lvl 60 in 4 days. Or do folks just feel it is okay to do something if only they do it to a degree that they deem appropriate and anything other than that is crossing the line?

SOE puts obstacles up. We find ways around those obstacles. How many times have you seen guilds who have found ways around those obstacles complain when the encounter is changed and yet they don't feel what they did was exploiting do they? But if someone else comes along and tries it a way they don't approve of then the other guild is obviously unskilled, exploiting, and they should derive no benefits from that encounter.

Some folks should step back and look at what they are saying and perhaps judge their own actions by the guidelines they are judging others by.

Not sure I can write a response to this without sounding insulting. The short answer is, I never xp'ed in Karnors and I don't want to be forced to. If you understand what I mean by that, then you understand why what she is doing makes people a bit nervous. It is SoE's fault, of course. When only one or two zones in an expansion are generally unavilable, there is no incentive to do this sort of thing. When 80% of an expansion requires raid level kills to access the content, it is really suprising this is not happening on more servers.

Its starting on ours slowly. :)

Pretty noncooperative environment over the years on Fennin so its a long road, but a lot old timers are gone or have mellowed so we will see how it goes.

"If you understand what I mean by that, then you understand why what she is doing makes people a bit nervous."

It should thrill you. It's not her fault there's no place else to XP. If the whole server gets flagged, then there will be SO much crowding, that SOE will have to supply more opportunites (revamped zones, adjusting ZEMs, etc).

SOE only reacts when their hand is forced.

I wrote this thread with no one person in particular in mind. If some of you think that I was referring specifically to Klarabell from the DFR thread you are mistaken. I simply referred her to this thread which I written previous to the post she made (which was above the post where I had referred her to here - hope that makes sense). I thought the points I made in this thread rebutted points she had made.

Hey, it's your right to not like it. But you know what? It's going to happen, wether you like it or not. Look at BoT for example, when we first got there we were usually the only people in (with the occasional groups of tier1 guilds keying for Agnarr). We spent few days farming for BoT keys, and having the zone to ourselves was fun while it lasted. Now... it's a friggin zoo. The zone crashed tonight and there were eighty some odd people 10 minutes after it was back. There are trains, there are fights in ooc and shout, it's all there, even the cybering bullsh1t. But what are you gonna do, it's how it works - if you don't like it, move on... till' you run out of places to move on to, then you're SoL.

Her flag rebellion. Her! Panamah is a lady! Well, ok... perhaps not a lady, but Panamah is a woman creature thing. A she. Think estrogen and mammaries and ovaries.

I always think of that 80's song "Panama" when I see your name...

"PAAAAANAMAAA! PAANAMAH-HA!"

=)

Ok, my name is a little androgenous but my last name should provide clues to my gender. Most men don't like to refer to themselves as flowers.

Yes, Chenier! Like this (http://members.cox.net/npm/panama_finale.mp3)

Panamah says to the guild: 'Hello everyone, what's going on tonight"
Soandso101 says to the guild: 'PANAMAAA! PAANAMAH-HA!'
Soandso104 says to the guild: 'PAAAAANAMAAA! PAANAMAH-HA!, HA HA'
Soandso203 says to the guild: 'PAAANNNAMAAA! PAANAMAH-HA!'
Soandso111 says to the guild: 'PAAANAMAAA! PAANAMAH-HA!'
Panamah shrugs
Panamah says to the guild: 'Oh, same thing as every night'
Panamah says to the guild: 'Conquer the world"

Speaking of the 80's
Do you consider Scorpions to be an 80's hair-band?
What I mean, is, Klause Meine was bald,,so does what kind of band would that be?

/bonk Panamah

This is a Druid board! There are any number of men here named after trees and shrubs. We're kind of oblivious to surnames involving flora and fauna...

I ran into a male halfling druid named Flowerpetal. /shrug

Traab "Love Machine" Fellhammer
Human Mob Compactor of the 52nd Cycle
And Almost Too Sexy To Live!

"Now if THAT can be a guys name, so can YOUR frenchy sounding name! lol"

Doesn't Panama sound feminine to anyone else? I guess I have to stick a picture of a sultry, half-dressed dark elf in my signature to get my gender across.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Gender is suprisingly hard to convey without very strong cues (like chenier's sig). There are several posters on this board who's gender I can't identify, even after reading many of their posts.

For example...

hehe, like I would go there.

Um, Panamah makes me think of Panama, the country bridging two continents -- you know, la Republica de Panama! I don't really think of it as having a gender since grammatical gender is a purely linguistic category and is 95% unrelated to the concept of biological gender.

I was actually thinking of Indiana Jones when I made Panama. I thought... hmmm, Indiana would be a decent girl's name, but we associate with a male character now. Then I thought of other place names that sounded kind of neat. Actually, lots of states and countries would be kind of neat sounding first names. But it'd take a lot of guts to name a kid... Florida.

I've known various Indias, Chinas, etc. over the years. Once upon a time those were 'exotic' names, but nowadays every girl with trendy parents has an exotic name.

I've always thought of Panamah as a feminine name.

There are any number of men here named after trees and shrubs.

True, but I'm not sure I would call them "men"...:)

Fanra

Fanra...sigh.

You don't know how many tells I get that go:

Clueless tells you: "Ma'am could I get buffed?"

Since it pisses me off that people don't stand in front of me before asking for buffs, expecting:

a.) I should tell them where I am so they can come to me. Or worse, I should go to them.

and

b.) I should wait there for them because I have nothing else to do, that's why I log on, to buff you.

I find it actually something I like to rag them with sometimes, "Ma'am? Ah, I'm a dude. You know, male, if you would look you could see, no boobs...:) "

(By the way, if you are standing in front of me and I have a second, I am always happy to buff you and I don't ask for payment and most of the time I turn down any donation)

But people assume if your name ends in an "A" you are female. In fact once someone in guild chat said, well, there are no male names really that end in A. And then someone managed to come back with Joshua. :)

I forget how I picked Fanra really. I suck making up names but I just made this one out of the blue. And now I like it :)
