How do you delete

Netmeeting.

Outlook (Express).

MSN Gaming Zone?

ETC.

The crap just rebuilds itself.

1) Open the Sysoc.inf file(you will have to search for it, I don't remember the path).

2) Delete the word HIDE for any component that you want to see in the Add/remove programs window(do not erase the commas).

3) Save the Sysoc.inf file, then close it, and reboot your computer.

You can now go into Add/remove programs to uninstall unneeded components.

Isn't it lovely when your computer's OS is written in such a way as to assume you don't know enough about your computer to be able to handle it correctly?

I'd at least like the expert option. Protect yourselves with yet another legal sounding blurb the first time you turn it on. Like "If you turn this on, you will have full control and can mess things up. If you mess things up with this option on, its your own darn fault."

I seem to recall BeOS had messages like that scattered around... I miss that OS :)

If you don't feel like hacking .ini files and such, there is a commercial package at http://www.litepc.com to remove various bits of 'forced' MS software from your installation.

Or, indeed, give Linux further consideration. You will need to be vigilant with the installation though - most distros install so much bloat by default if you don't intervene, that you look back at the Windows bloat with fond memories. But at least you can tell it *not* to install it all.

BeOS also had two interesting API calls: isComputerOn and isComputerOnFire. I bet those came in handy.

Hmmmm I just goto add or remove programs then click the "add/remove windows componentes" button on the left and they are all listed there.

It wouldn't suprise me at all if Be actually *had* those API calls LOL :D
