just out of curiosity, why does it seem like those with the biggest mouths are also the ones who don't wanna give back to the community?

heck, i donated AFTER I QUIT EQ.

WTF?!?!?

Because it's easier to complain than it is to take action. Sad, but true.

One could consider posting and contributing to the forums to be "giving back to the community." 8)

I think it is odd that people who have quit EQ (and some of them years ago)
a) Still visit EQ class boards
b) Comment on the game(!)
c) Donate money to a mb dedicated to a game they disliked enough to quit(!!)

You are all very nice people, I'm sure, but... why are you here?

And I don't mean this as a snarky flame-thing either. I kinda just don't get it.

Because there is a community here that surpasses EQ alone. If you come here simply to glean information about EQ, then you won't understand. If you come here to participate in the community, then you will.

If everyone quit the forums when they quit EQ then there would be few message forums in existence. I believe both EQClerics and TDG forum owners/founders no longer play EQ, same with most of the moderators.

However we all still enjoy playing computer games and we discuss them.

Hehe it is more of a community then a message board for currently active druids in EQ to me. Not everyone quit because they hate the game, it's a good way to keep in touch with those you played with.

Browsing the forums or reading about the game is kind of a passtime while at work. Get an idea of how SoE is changing, see if maybe I want to even give EQ2 a try. After putting so much time and effort into the game it's still fun to me to check back in and see how things are.

I dont really see anything wrong with commenting, like saying, "hey they finally fixed that!" or something like that. Bringing up new ideas might seem a little odd though.

As far as donating, I gave back to the community that put up with me. /shrug

People are here because TDG is our home message board. There is a very active community here and many members have been posting and reading this board for years.

Sobe is opening areas for the new games that are coming out soon and other games that many of us are already playing. He is doing that to keep the community together. This is home.

I'm this close to donating, yet i ponder why donate to a discussion board that's full of people that say they quit the game in every post and that they are having to much fun with another game. I'd rather donate to a board in which active players participate and discuss instead. I mean it's fine if people that quit hang around and discuss, but if it's the same crap every time... it gets tiresome.

Understand, people like me are not trying to rob you of your home. But people like me came here to discuss everquest, specifically everquest druids.

I too call this my home, and like i said i'm this close to donating... but maybe i'll wait a month and see if the same tendency is going on.

Cool, no flames. I guess I didn't offend anyone as I'd worried :) Thank you for the input. Actually I had last posted how disgruntled I was with my Druid, but I still read the board, so in a way, I answered my own question. Never been much of a poster, but I come here to read a lot. Anyway, I am re-enamoured of my Druid again (I knew it would only be a matter of time!) and happily attempting to ding 60. Soooo Slooooowwww......
