Every time I try to play in a zone with block or rock walls I lock up. Have an Athlon 2k processor, Geforce 5200 video card. The coputer has been reformatted and the game reinstalled and it still locks up. Starting to drive me nuts! Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Assuming:
Latest vid card drivers (WHQL at least), latest sound card drivers, latest WinXP patch, latest version of DX9. Also, no weird third party stuff running, like port scanners, realtime AV, file backup agents, other "sleeper" agents.

Was the install of EQ "fresh" or did you copy over some old directory items? There are temp texture files within the EQ directory that you could try and delete/redownload (I forget what they were called, but I'm sure someone else on the board could chime in).

You could also see if increasing/lowering the texture detailing helps or hinders.

Also, when in doubt, try the "nosound" in the ini file. It actually helps troubleshoot a lot of weird problems.

They just don't draw for me. I have to camp out and load the zone. Gets on my nerves.

We have tried tweaking the graphics on the game and video card, still locks up. Ill try turning the sound off and see if that helps.
Could it be an XP thing?

Could be any number of things. It could be a hardware flaw in your vid/sound card (unless you've tried swapping them as well). It could be corrupted driver for either. I actually had to downgrade my video drive on one of my boxes (Geforce 3 Ti 200) last year because the current driver made EQ crash. Whatever was wrong got fixed in a later driver update, but for a while I was unabe to run the most current version.

We changed the video cards also hubby thought that might help but still had the same lock ups with that one too. It has been a most frustrating problem.

You might want to check for a bad memory stick or RAM thingie (sorry for the lack of "Tech Speak"). I had one go bad and started to have weird things happen to EQ.

Well the patch yesterday seemed to fix the problem. My hubby's bard has had the most trouble and he got through a LDoN without a lock up. He was locking up about 4 times per adv. so we are keeping our fingers crossed..lol.
