Well, I've been camping dwarfs in BB for a week now. Decent cash, good xp. Wish it still had the cash of the good old days (that I used to hear about...)
Anyway, I have been getting more and more annoyed with port requests. I have been doing them here and there. Trying to port between spawns isn't that bad...
but I started getting more and more non-donaters. I tell them I don't want to do it, but will if they can't find anyone else. I just don't understand why people think it's ok to waste someone elses time without even a show of thanks.
So I moved from chessboard to the two outside kaladim. Breaking the spawn kinda sucks (since I haven't been able to harmonize them that well... just pull with snare, and let the other chase me far enough away that the first gives up).
Anyway, now I have an excuse! I don't want rebreak my spawn. I mention to all people who ask. Then if they can't find anyone in 15 minutes... I had some ask again, with better and better offers until it's worth my time dealing with rebreaking the spawn again. I think I'm making more now and porting 1/10 as much!

There is a simple way to work with it especially now that luclin is out.
If you want to be porting you turn your role or anon mode off. If you do not want to port you turn role or anon on and ignore requests.
If they don't like it they can hang out by the druid rings or run the oh so short distance to greater faydark wizzard spires and the portal to nexus.
I have to ask what level you are right now, because you should soon get to the point when it is much more efficient to just grab both dwarves and mulitkite them.

i never ever tell people i will port them if they cant find someone else. because once you say that, most of them stop really looking for someone else since you already volunteered.
ive gotten quite crusty in my old age and dont port often. i refuse to port people from rivervale to wc (which they ask for ALL the time), instead i give em a sow and tell em to run. ive gotten people up in bazaar/sh asking for ports to nk or butcher, and tell em to use the nexus =P
these days, there are a lot of options for people on traveling, including port channels most servers have and using nexus spires. i dont have sympathy for people who complain about the waiting for spires. for some reason they think its ok for me to waste my time porting them, but not ok for them to waste their own time porting themselves.

Yeah, gets pretty aggravating sometimes when people INSIST you need to port them NOW because they have to CR. And then get all uppity when I say I'm busy ... like it's MY fault they died.
Another thing I hate is when you're out in some low level zone doing something (killing spiders for silks, etc) and n00b_01 comes and asks "can you heal me please?" Now I don't mind this, and usually heal them. Ten minutes later they're back "can you heal me again?". Not a problem. Then again, next thing they're asking "can I get a Sow?, hp buff, ds, can you group with me and give me PotG please? Gahhh, it's rather like you help them a time or two and all of a sudden you've taken them to raise!!
Sometimes I wish people would realize that sometimes we have other things we are doing. We don't run around zones just looking for people to heal, ds, buff and port.

Elfwyn, you're kind of asking for them to do it, if you ask me.
It's simply positive reinforcement. They ask for stuff, you give it to them, they come back and get more, of course they'll continue. Just say no the first time. (Perhaps throw them a heal if they're near death, I prefer to just snare/(root) their mob and let them get to the zone, it's not my job to babysit them.)

I port, buff, heal, etc., if I'm sitting around banking or waiting to group with my guild. Otherwise, I simply /tell the person requesting that "I'm sorry, I'm busy atm."
Offense taken or not, I don't usually get a return tell. And I don't feel guilty.
Hey, it's a game. I'm paying to enjoy it. Get over it.

"I'm sorry but I'm busy and not porting atm" usually works for me.
If the person requesting a port once again states how urgent it is I tell them "No, I said I'm busy and am not available to port". After that I just ignore additional tells and if it gets too bad there is always just /ignore.
Given the number of times I have gone out of my way to help someone in need I don't have a problem ignoring "urgent" requests if I'm busy (usually meaning grouped up and just passing through the zone I get the request in).

My cure is to direct them to my server's port channel. On Quellious it is just simply /join port. Usually I get a "Thanks, I forgot about that!"

My mage, shaman, wizard and necro are all bound at the firepots (damn i love the binding change there). Sk and monk use the scions. All have pottery levels up to make Thurg gates.
I've asked fer ports on those characters... never.
My reply to port requests? Find a Wizard to TL you.

Yah i think kinda by definition it is annoying when they don't take no for an answer.
I have had the standard moron tirades before. Ex. Dead at Seb bub and expecting a rez at any moment and having some moron go off on me cuz I won't port them to EC (sorry I didn't know I was your chauffeur today). Now if I were not expecting a rez at any moment I would probably have done it in the first place...
Or when you are somewhere it took you a while to get to and are not bound nearby and the person wanting the port tells you "but you can bind!" Sorry, schmuck. I am boudn where I am bound for a reason, and no I am not going to change my mind about that because you are whining at me.
I really do port people...every once in a while. But I honest to god can't wait for whatever PoP delivers ... I don't want people to be stranded or to take a long time getting somewhere, but I pay to play the game (which for me means killing stuff or whatever)...only so much of my game time I am gonna devote to porting around peeps I don't even know.

I got random tells for ports from 'desperate' level one characters while I was in ToV & PoM last week. How desperate can you be at level 1? /boggle.

Today I got a tell to come to HHK and wolf form someone. Because they were overloaded AND needed it for faction.
When I declined, he responded I was the 13th to do so. My response that a little advance planning on his part might have helped was not well received ;P
So you got yourself in a tight spot, so to speak, and now it's my fault?
LOL

I always love those really remote requests you get while you are on a raid.
One time not too long back my guild was up in hate farming (yet again ug) for chanter dust and sk pelts and all the other rare epic drops.
Anyway, I get a series of pestering tells from someone in SRO asking me for a port.
He didn't understand why I would not help him since I am level 60 and so uber can't you take any time to help me?
Ugh.

Two options!
1. Im a ranger. Surprisingly, few argue that Im not duel wielding.
2. Kinda busy atm. This DOES NOT SAY NO, so they can believe that as soon as you are done doing whatever you are doing, you will port them. While they wait in hopes that whatever Im doing will finish, I am hastily forgetting how to spell their name, then that I was messaged in the first place.
