how do..

Was curious to know fellow druids opinion on the idea of having a hoard Alt ?

presumably they could get different items to Alliance tooons ?

I've only played Alliance so far, i'm just a goody to shoes :-)

I am considering leting my dark side out of the closet, and was wondering if Hoard drops etc would be of use to an Alliance toon ?

cheers

You can't have a horde and alliance toon on the same server as far as I am aware.

Really I could have sworn that you couldn't have them on the same server. Can you mail cross faction???

Yes you can have horde & alliance toons on the same server. I've got my main Alliance char, an alliance alt and 2 horde alts ( but not of my alts have even hit 20 yet, so they don't get a lot of play ).

The main thing to know is you cannot mail youself items you get as a horde to your alliance character and vice versa. You'd have to use the neutral auction houses and hope you've got a really quick logout/login and buyout trigger finger.

You don't need to logout/login that quickly. Just through a junky item into the neutral AH with your alt and put an "insane" buyout price on it. Insane doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a lot; nobody should be paying for your junky item. Login your main and purchase the junk item. Voila, your alt now has some money to spend. (And if someone is crazy enough to buy your junky item, that's even better, because it's their money feeding your alt instead of your main's money.)

Wow that is sweet I can now start my horde char without having to change servers.

Ok so it could be done in a round about way, but is there any benefit to it ?

I believe on pvp you can't have alliance and horde while on pve you can have both.

By the way the horde isn't the 'bad side' and more than the alliance is.

Forsaken - they didn't want to become undead. There are quests where the forsaken regret their state.

Tauren and Trolls - have alliance with orcs - It would be 'bad' to break this alliance they have.

Orcs - They are just setting up a new homeland just like the alliance is trying to.

Passing gold intrafaction by buying items at high prices is inefficient, because the neutral AH takes a 15% cut (ie if you had the alt post peacebloom at 100g buyout, then had your alliance main pay that, the alt would only receive 85g)

It is better to pass an item of value at the minimum price to avoid the cut and then sell it in the other faction AH, this where you need to be quick. My guild does it a lot though with different toons on voice and we have never had a shipment intercepted.

Using cross-faction transfers can be a good way to profit from price fluctuations on either side (we buy arcane crystals on alliance for 18g and can sell them on horde for 25g).

I'm on a PvE server and my whole guild has a cross-faction alt (we have an alt guild, all the same people other side).

Atrus is correct.
-No Ally and Horde characters on same server ONLY if server is PVP based.

One question though. Why would anyone want to play a goodie to shoes ally character?!? :devil-lau

I live to kill ally...oh, so so fun!

Well i have a Alliance Dr00d, and am going to play a hoard toon just for a different perspective, i was curious as to whether there any mats drops that the hoard can pick, which would be useful to my main..

goody 2 shoes...

not really :-)

I love being CAT and stealing up behind mobs and one slotting them.. cool !

The biggest differences are probably quest rewards early on, but I bet there are equivalents on both sides.

The main reason to roll a horde toon on my server is if you decide you'd actually like to win some BGs.

I'm at lvl 20 now, at what point would it be worth exploring instances and BG's ?

as either.. Alliance or Hoard..

Kyane

BGs are broken into level groups 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 ( with the exception of Alterac Valley which is 51+ )

I sugguest you first hit Warsong when you're about 16 so you don't get owned by the 19s when you'r 10 ( ouch ).

Instances, depend on your faction. For the Alliance it mainly starts like this:
- Deadmines ( 17+ )
- Stockades ( 24+ )
- Blackfathom Deeps ( 24+ )
- Gnomer ( 30+ )
- Scarlet Monestary ( 32+ )
- Uldaman ( 40+ )
- Zul'F.. ( 44+ )
- Maraudon ( 50+ )
- Sunken Temple ( 50+ )
- Blackrock Depths ( 55+ )
- Dire Maul ( 58+ )

I know I missed some, just going off what I've been in ( and even then I probably missed some! )

The major benefit of playing characters in both factions is seeing the quests that shift between the factions. i.e. the Shady Rest Inn series of quests in Dustwallow that seems to dead end on the alliance side and is actually resolved on the horde side.

Yeah but true Hordies consider people who have chars on both sides to be 'traitors' ...conflict of interest if you will...

FOR THE HORDE!

Blackrock is a PvP server and I can't make an alliance alt, too bad. I had to make an Ally on Guul'dan. You guys have a nice tram system. Why bother taking flightpaths between Ironforge and Stormwind. I think Horde needs something between Orgrimmar and Thunderbluff to balance it out.

I admit I haven't played in over three months but unless this has recently changed you can't buy items from characters on your own account even cross faction. You need to either have two accounts or have a friend help you trade the items off via the gadget AH.

I can confirm that you can't win your own auction in the neutral AHs. It state's "You cannot bid on your own auction". Most likely so people can't increase the bid on their own auctions for the big ticket stuff.

I have a horde alt on another server just to know the terrain. =) Works quite well actually...I know where to find the horde to blast...

quick question, which AHs are neutral? Should I assume Gadgetzan has a neutral AH?

Gadgetzan, Everlook, and Booty Bay have neutral AHs.

If you say HOARD one more time I swear.....it's HORDE!!

PvE - You can have both horde and alliance characters
PvP - You can only have one faction

Nuetral AH is efficient when you delete all of your Alliance characters and transfer every last item/gold over to your Horde character.

Explain how that works. If you delete all you alliance characters, don't their auctions delete too? Or are you suggesting that you have someone help you?

gwmort

You could probably do Deadmines now, not sure what the horde equivalent is, and BFD pretty soon.

There is a whole community of 10-19 BGers that don't level out of it, so you could probably jump into WSG anytime you want (there are also groups that stay in 20-29 or 30-39). On my server theres not a whole lot of AB interest until the 40s, but that probaly varies by server.

You would need someone to help you in this case. In my case transferred all my gold to a Horde friend through the nuetral AH. I then listed up all the BoE and tradeskill stuff I had for 1cp and had him on Ventrillo so we never lost anything to someone watching the AH. I deleted my Alliance characters after all that, which to be honest is not neccessary, but I had no interest in ever playing an Alliance character again =)

That you did. The one that comes to my mind most easily is Razorfen Kraul, or RFK. I'd say 25+ should work.
