I am lvl 37 and planning on, if gold is available, respeccing to moonkin once I hit forty. I primarily solo since I have little playing time two one hour blocks throughout the day if I am lucky.

My question is should I start saving cloth armor with high +int? or should I hold out to find leather to further increase my armor in moonkin form?

My brother-in-law was kind enough to run me through SM a couple times this week and I was able to get a couple blue cloth items head and shoulders mainly with high +int that I held off from disenchanting for this purpose. I also got a sweet +int dagger from the end guy in the library can't remember the name hypnotic blade I think. and have a +int off hand glowing orb or something got that from a quest at some point I think.

Anyway I digress sorry. What items should I keep my eye out for to prep for moonkin?

I wouldn't worry about cloth high int gear, there is good leather available for caster stats because of the popularity of the resto druids. The main thing to watch for on cloth is the + spell damage gear, + spell crit gear, and to some extent the mana/5 sec gear.

Don't expect to rock out with heavy caster stuff right at 40, there is some good stuff in ZF and MAra that will help a lot (check Zumrah's vexing cane, for instance).

I've also been looking more at the specialized damage gear (nature's wrath and arcane wrath). You can probably pick some up in the AH pretty cheap, and arcane wrath will boost your MF and SF pretty good (and you get the full bonus on instacast unlike the "up to" general spell damage bonus).

Cool, thanks for the help. I can now disenchant the cloth gear that is taking up room in my bank for the good enchanting supplies should get some shards out of them :)

At lvl 40 I respec'ed to Moonkin and I'm loving it! My equipment which I slowly accumulated over time is as follows:

Weapon: Illusionary Rod; Alternative: Hypnotic Blade w/ Orb of Lorica
- the dagger is great with OoC
Head: Whitemane's Chapeau @43 Wingend Helm
Neck: Serg Major Amulet @ 45 upgrade
Cloak: Serg Cloak w/ +50 Amor enchant
Finger 1: Lorekeeper Ring (lvl 38)
Finger 2: Lorekeeper Ring (lvl 28)
Chest: Green Whelp Amor @ 45 Feathered Breast Plate
Wrist: Enchanted Kodo Bracers w/ +5 Int Enchantment
Shoulders: Sheapsheer Mantle
Legs: Warchief Kilt
Feet: Something "of the owl" and then @ 49 Sandles of the Insurgent
Hands: Something "of the owl" @ 45 Elven Spirit Claws

My gloves, chest and boots I always used Armor Kits so that the increase was boosted in Moonkin Form. My cloak is always enchanted with + Armor for the same reason.

Armor kits arent factored into the 360% increase in armor of Bear/Moonkin.

Currently my favorite piece of Moonkin gear is my warden staff with the spell power enchant, mad armor extra nuke damage and nice speed for OoC procs.

I'm getting the ironfeather set next (have shoulders can equip chest piece next level).

The band of the great tortoise is a good moonikin/bear item, its a quest reward in Tanaris and is a ring with like 120 AC on it.
