Ok, right now in my basic bear gear I've got something just over 6K armor and nearly 5k health. I'm going to be farming devilsaurs this week to make a pair of the devilsaur leggings ( I already have hte gauntlets ).

On things my lvl and above ( for example the devilsaur and the stone gurs in Un'Goro ranging from 54 to 61 elites ) I average something like 600 - 700 crits with my maul. In cat I've hit higher, but solo'ing these guys, I don't want to risk taking that much damage.

So, what stats should I be looking for on gear to increase my crits?

I have a bunch of PvP gear that I've been working on ( just hit Sgt Major ) but it will be a while before I can get anything really good from that.

A quick breakdown on the gear I have
Head - Helm of the Pathfinder (117 armor +17 stam )
Neck - Stormpike Soldiers Pendant ( +15 stam +18 attack power )
shoulders - Praetorian Pauldrons of Stamina ( 106 armor +17 stamina )
back - Sergeant's Cape ( 115 armor 17 stam ) / Cloak of Warding
hand - Devilsaur Gauntlets ( 103 armor +9 stam +28 attack +1% crit )
waist - stormpike leather girdle ( 95 armor +10 agility, +15 stam, +11 strength +5 frost )
Legs - will have Devilisaur Legs soon
Feet - Frostsaber Boots ( 99armor +12 frost +12 shadow )
Finger - Assault band ( +20 attack +7 stam +5 spirit ) / band of Tortise
Finger - Ring of living Stone ( +10 Strength + 9 Stam )
Weapon - Twig of the world tree ( +14 stren, +12 spirit, +21 stamina ) *looking at the Warden staff for bear*
Trinkets - I forget what I've got but they have to deal with +health +mana every few seconds

Ok, so suggestions? I am 60 now, not running any raid instances at this time ( guild isn't even close to being ready for that ).

I would trade off some of the oieces with just stamina and get some more strength pieces.

Increasing crit chance, or crit damage? :]

Crit damage. I've got something around 20% crit ATM.

gwmort,

TY for your input. How do +strength and +attack power differ with what I want to accomplish?

Thanks again guys.

In feral forms, we get two points of AP for every one point of strength, therefore strength increases your base damage more than agility. Your crit damage is a multiple of your base damage so to get the crit damage higher you need to raise your AP which is easiest to do using strength.

There are a number of mathematical analyses of it in this and other forums, but basically your dps will be highest if you focus on strength until your AP is over 900, and then start focusing on agility to increase the chance of critting.

If you swap out some of those stamina only pieces you can raise your AP way up w/o changing your agility or crit percentage chance.

I have always looked for strength and agility items, with stamina coming in 3rd place for my feral set. But I have always focused much much more on agility because I thought this made such an impact on my crit chance. Currently (lvl 51) my strength is only 113, but my agility is 189. Have I gone way off here? I can swap out a hammer which will reduce my agi by 10 and raid my str by 10 and also give me +10 to nature resist. Would you suggest I make that swap? Do I need to neglect my agility more and focus on some strength?

it sounds like your focus is on catform tho, so concentrating on agi might be what u want. u get atk pwr bonuses from yer agi in catform. str and sta comes next, of course.

Even in catform Strength is far better until your AP is near 900. Critting a lot doesn't help as much if your crit damage is low (other than quickly progressing through the CPs if you have the talents speced for it).
