Flying mount vendors and trainers are temporarily available on Beta now.

The Flying Mount trainers and vendors are temporarily up in Thrallmar and Honor Hold. Please note that this is only temporary. Eventually, they will be located in Shadowmoon Valley.

If the server comes down, these spawns will not be up. We'll try to repop them if that happens.

Get 'em while they're hot =]

Here are the prices (keep in mind, this is beta, they may change):

Flying mounts (Ebon, Golden, and Snowy Gryphons) - 100g
Epic flying mounts (Swift Blue, Green, Purple, and Red Gryphons) - 200g

But here's the pricy part - training.

Journeyman riding - 600g (level 60 epic ground mounts; down from live price?)
Expert riding - 800g (level 70 flying mounts)
Artisan riding - 5000g (level 70 epic flying mounts)

So, if you only ever had a level 40 mount, you'll need to pay 1500g to get a flying mount. If you want an epic flying mount, the price goes up to 6600g.

However, if you have an epic level 60 mount, it's a bit cheaper - 900g for a flying mount and 6000g for an epic flying mount.

Ouch!

Remember being lvl 30 and finding out that you'd need 100g for a mount in 10 lvls? The amount of money to be made scales with lvl. I'm guessing that 1000g at 70 will be as difficult as 100g was at 40 and 5000g at 70 will be as difficult as 1000g was at 60. People in Beta are saying that they close to 3,000 or 4,000g by the time they hit 70. It sounds like it may be pretty easy to get an epic mount! Plus druids get the regular flying mount skill for free with our flight form at 68. So it will only be 90g if we want the actual mount (I'll probably get it, because I'm addicted to mount speed enchants).

Read somewhere that money income has increased greatly in BC, at least during beta; low-level mobs easily drop 20-40s as standard, not counting items. The guy who said it had earned 40g just by levelling to 61, including costs for repairs, etc. So yeah, the prices don't look that impossible.

But I wonder what effect that will have on those who choose not to get expansion...

Druids automatically get expert riding when they get flightform so thats 800 gold less unless it recently changed.

Would that hurt or help the economy? If low lvl things dropped a good some of money, that would mean prices would go up, actually, if everything scaled like that, thered be no change to the economy at all. So wouldnt that make it pointless?

Interesting, I hadn't heard that (but haven't read much about the beta).

Actually, based on what I've read, this is not the case. The druids on the beta forums have reported that they do not get the 225 riding skill. Whether or not this is a bug or not is anybody's guess since Blizzard usually doesn't say anything about just about anything.

So the flight form effectively saves you....80 gold...I'm fairly underwhelmed personally. Flight form should include the riding skill, otherwise it's fairly worthless and is basically a 'fluff' ability, because people are going to want epic flying mounts/speeds(the difference is even bigger than the land mounts).

Granted, if they added a quest for an epic flight form, I wouldn't gripe nearly so much about not getting the riding skills, but the closest any Dev has come to that is saying "it hasn't been ruled out."

Actually it looks like it saves you 1500 gold. Any druid can get the flight form. If you have that you don't have to have any of the other flight options. Every other class to participate will have to buy atleast the basic 1500 gold mount I think to get to where we can go already.

Provided you never want to go anywhere fast? That's pretty disappointing...saves you jack squat if you want to go as fast anyone else.
